You actually make a good point, but sometimes it's the fault of Hollywood for trying to make big budget "art" and having executive producers turn a subversive point in to a fan vehicle. One of the few people to actually pulled it off was Spike Jonze with Where the Wild Things Are who somehow managed to convince a studio to spend $100m to make a an indie art film masquerading as big budget fairy tale, and the studio didn't realize until it was too late.

Suckerpunch is a perfect example of the former where someone wanted to make a statement peace but it ended up being nothing more than than a Micheal Bay flop.

i would say having your movie or actor win an Oscar is bigger than any box office haul. Look at DiCaprio and some directors. Hundreds of millions of dollars even billions but never validated in Hollywood until they won the award. and there is already people denouncing this flick mainly the ultra pc on twitter lol (comparing it to white mass shooters) so im not sure how it will do in the box office, but i hope it does well.

i'm thinking it will have taxi driver type of vibe, but im going to save judgement until i watch it in theaters. I CANCEL CULTURE SO MUCH
