It still gets heated every now and then, and occasionally nasty when it does, but I feel like almost none of it is as personal as it used to be. Everyone's history here goes pretty far back by now, and whatever about them that may have drawn your hostility ten or fifteen years ago doesn't irk you the same way because, let's face it, we were basically kids, and it wasn't important in the first place. So now it's, like...who cares?

Plus we've seen a bunch of us pass major milestones. Jack bought a house, Jenny has a kid, and I've come to accept that prog was dead or dying by 2005.

I'm always inclined to take that sort of thing as forum banter rather than real personal hostility, even if it looks nasty. Some people do seem to take stuff very personally though.

Well 'J definitely crossed the line with 2techs in that thread, when he started coming down on his mixes just to score some below the belt points. There's not a whole lot that isn't considered fair game around here, but bringing someone's mixes into the fight is like bringing in someone's mom: you just don't do it.

Matt vanished for years only to resurge in lockdown, so let's not hand out any Nobel Peace Prizes just yet.

Although as well as me being slightly less of a bastard, I'd say Matt has got slightly less annoying in his new iteration. He just deletes his rubbish threads now, rather than staging an Alamo-esque last stand on their bloody slopes.
