with all my respect to you guys , you have to know that DuMonde , Blank & Jones , Svensson & Gielen , Kai Tracid , Cosmic Gate , and sometimes Nu-Nrg ARE THE GODS OF CHEESE . that's my opinion but if they came to montreal i still would go and see them but they're cheese remember

nah man i still like armin and tiesto.. but i have never liked dumonde or blank and jones (although i have to admit some of B&Js productions were quality). Im talking more about their djing which is cheesy and in my own opinion awful. Nothing original or creative just big trance synths. And please dont get me wrong I still love the classics but so much new trance is pure garbage. Its not innovative at all, its just recycling simple melodies using the same old synth samples.

lol very good question Mans , IMO it's a repetitive bassline with a build-up and stuff made by the same producers everytime

but i gotta admit sometimes i like cheese , there's nothing wrong with that

humm, sorry fast but your description is really to wide to satisfy my curiosity.

as for myself, cheesy tracks are made of cheap sounds and the ones that have an originality score of 0.

and i agree with you, cheesy is sometimes good.

for example: masterpiece of emotion-elios. good track. great morning trance.. nice after great partys, but hell, it is cheesy. cheesy piano roll, you can easily guess that the track was inspired by the miles's children trance movement.

the time factor has something to do with the cheesy factor.

years ago, oakenfold was playing good trance (EM ibiza99 personnal favorite) but hey, now in 2002, 70% of his set is cheese for many people.
what we call great today might be cheese tomorrow.
what was trance yesterday, is now dance on radio(and we all deny ever liking it!).

anyway, its my opinion,

ps. some cheesy tracks really sux and do not deserve to be in my "cheesy but good" bag

My definitition: Music that is uplifting, in the sense that it is so over the top it looses it's effect. I like uplifting music to a certain extent but i cant stand it when people lay it on so thik it sounds phony.
