I have to say that this map is actually really good. It may not be 100% accurate, because differnt people are going to have different opinions, and some genres should be linked to multiple other genres, because their influence came from a variety of sources. But to those of you bashing this map, and saying it sucks.... LETS SEE YOU DO BETTER. Maaz.. to you and all others that put work into this, well done.

there are some geners u have forgotten, add a "psychedelic trance" street with the sub generes of:
progresive psychedelic trance
minimal psychedelic trance
full-on psychedelic trance
techno-psychedelic trance

and goa does not includes that genres, this genre evolved from techno, and goa evolved from psychedelic trance, there should be also a link beetween psychedelic trance and ambient (shpongle - if any1 knows), and i think u should ask some proffessional people bout this, like salesmans in records stores...

oh, and what about rock, regae, psychedelic rock, deaf metal, metal, etc.???

Talking Thanks for the feedback, people!

I'll be posting an updated version soon...

I'm working on it. In fact, you're not the first one to tell me that there are too many sub-genres, but I just can't ignore most of them. Obviously, there are some genres that are a lot more famous than others (I'd never compare acid house to Rio Tekno-Funk), but I'd like to show how rich the history of electronic music is. I'll merge as many sub-genres as possible, so it'll be easier to navigate (for example, I'll merge Rio Tekno-funk into Rio Funk, which cannot be ignored because it's too frigging funny But, when you click for its history, I'll talk about Rio Tekno-Funk as well. This way, you won't get confused with so many names, unless you DO want to learn about them). Also, I'll divide this map (as Ishkur did) to explain everything (therefore, if you're looking for Goa, you won't need to see the whole structure of Drum'n'bass). It'll be a lot more organised in the flash version, trust me

but it also has its funny side

Talla brought techno to germany, that's why he's between detroit techno and german techno

I'll do some research on it, thanks As a matter of fact, you've got pm

The map would be way too confusing if I had added all the non-electronic genres that influenced electronic music. I tried to add them when I first made the map, but I realised it would be better just to mention about their importance in the description of the genres that were influenced by them.

tovarish, if i were u, i would put acid techno as far away from detroit techno as possible... they are just waaaaaaaaaaaayyy too different... and farther from german techno as well. in fact, 90% of acid *techno* comes from the UK
