Thanks, r5a

By the way, I hope you realise Lira is using AI for those posts. "I can't even brag I did it for the plot: no syringes, no secret powders, no nothing. Just me, my dumbbells, and whatever trick my biology is playing on me this decade." is pure Chat GPT speak. |
Hold up, really? You really think that!? You seriously think that every phrase, sentence, and oddly phrased sentence in that post was written by silly cold silicon chips!? Thank you! If you really think I was trying to chatfish you, r5a, and the occasional lurker, this means I must have passed whatever the Turing Test for middle-aged declawed Claude impersonators is (though do tell your clawed Claude that I said meow). Let's call this the Durian Test, because as much as I love the fact that this even happened, sounding like the poor man's Gemini probably stinks if you're not into it
Now, I don't think I've ever not disclosed any use of either ChatGPT or DeepL to improve the way I write (I unabashedly do), as I've always been quite self-conscious about the fact I didn't really take English language courses except for the mandatory classes in high school, nor did I have the opportunity to live abroad in an anglophone country so I could mangle the language before any reluctant hosts... but let's take a quick look here at the passage you picked up, shall we? I ain't gonna let you take my credit away:
- I can't even brag I did it for the plot: nope, this is pure me. I learned "doing it for the plot" from TokyoSims and thought I'd use it. Americanisms probably don't sound like me but, hey, I liked the phrase, decided to shoot my shot. That's how you pick up foreign languages and unsuspecting men if the video is to be believed.
- Saying things in threes: syringes, secret powders, no nothing; me, dumbbells, biology tricks. Pick up my old posts and you'll see this is the trick I use most often, something I picked up from TVTropes. It's all there in threes. As a matter of fact, I even admit I'm prone to overusing "A, B, AB" as in "She's pretty, hot, and pretty hot" if I see an opportunity because it's pretty, fun, and pretty damn fun.
So, what the hell I use chatbots for? Brazilian punctuation often bleeds into English. I make lost of mistaeks. I third guess myself all the time. In the passage above, DeepL reminded me not to capitalise after semi-colons (which I tend to prefer for stylistic reasons), and ChatGPT did suggest "Syringes" and "Secret Powders" instead of "Steroids" and "Power Chalks", my original picks, which I originally meant to write but didn't have as much punch. Instead of " whatever trick my biology is playing on me this decade" I think I wrote "whatever the hell my body decided is wrong after my 40th spin around the sun" or something of the sort. It has been a while. But, if a long drawn out line I wrote 3 AM such as "loud stomps on the treadmill booming all over the gym to drown out my methane emissions to the atmosphere - a small damage to the ozone layer, a huge byproduct of my whey protein intake" sounds like something a machine would come up with, my beaming pride alone will be responsible for global warming. Sorry, Greta
Also, for the record and the wrecked, ChatGPT isn't fond of fart jokes (like mine on the treadmill) and it also keeps the 69 references R-rated (we really can't have nice things, can we?). I don't think this counts as a humblebrag, but I don't think I'm either humble or a brag, so, yeah. Oh, and while we're at it, I think I did learn the word "chagrin" from you too, which is also in the post, so thanks for that too.
