First, in response to whoever thought Oakey was coked out in during one of his sets needs to spend some time around some addicts like my friends before you can make a statement like that. I understand you probably added a coolness factor to your post, but you should know that Oakey has been drug-free for awhile now.
Second, Twilogoddess, you must understand that Oakenfold has taken it upon himself to revolutionize dance culture in North America. I agree with you 100% that he plays anthemesque sets here in the USA or Canada, but 75% of the people at his concerts haven't heard any of them. I take it from your name and your previous comments that you seem to be a bit of a music facist. I am in the same category. Understand that you get to see Sasha and Digweed, Vasquez and Tenaglia on a semi-regular basis. They play for a specific subculture that demands freshness and creativity whenever they spin at a NYC club. Don't hold Oakenfold, Tiesto, or PvD to those standards. That isn't their purpose. I would have thought that someone as knowledgable as you would have understood this musical dynamic by now.
Oakenfold pleases the crowd, he serves his purpose well. He may "be caught in a time warp", but why the hell is freshness a prerequisite? Danny Tenaglia plays music that is months from being released, but on several occasions nearly lulled me into a deep sleep because he didn't play for the crowd.

bullshit twilogoddess, its attitudes like yours that pollute the minds of newcomers
have you seen oakenfold live? have you?
if you have you must be on drugs..
btw.. check the age of that remix, its not 4 years old.. and its made a serious comeback this year. same with synaestasia.. its made a serious come back.
you complain about bandwagon'ing it.. your the only one bandawgon'ing it.. everyone has turned their back on oakenfold.. even though he tends to rock the house. his set at wmc was anything but commercialized, half the tracks i had never heard before and i know my music.
really, your posts piss me off. shutup bitch.

Twilo, I am sorry, but your accusations are very arrogant. How would you know Oakenfold is in it only for the money. How would you know this? Like I previously said, Oakenfold has stated many times that he is on a mission. He is attempting to break America of its bad musical taste. So yes, he does play the same tunes. His style may not have elvoved as fast as some other djs over the years. But your aren't taking this all in context. If you want to make it big in musical America you build recognition. Tranceport is the all-time best selling electronic album in the states. Therefore, to appeal and intice to this audience he plays safe, tranceportish tunes. I agree with you, to musical snobs like you and me Oakenfold may be a waste of money. But understand that he isn't trying to appeal to us anymore. I can sense you are really hurt by this, but cope. You have your Digweed and Sasha and I have my Steve Lawler. Move on, your just pissing people off with your agrument that doesn't equate all of the factors into the equation.
