What's happening in Belgium??
Well.
Elections coming up in June next year, profiling going on.
Some interesting stuff though over the last few months.

The Director of our traincompany fired under (liberal[right-wing] & green) political pressure, that process being contaminated with lies; but no one seems to care
Belgium has 10% foreigners. There's a party that demands that they adapt to our culture (extreme-right, getting 33% in Antwerp ). And now, some Belgian/Libanese guy stood up for the immigrants opposing assimilation. So right-wing politicians urging for an investigation. 2 hours later the leader was arrested because someone 'thought' he heard him say 'fight back'. He was released 2 days later. A political prisoner in Belgium anno 2002 and no one seems to care ; flagrant violation of political-judicial seperation Let's see what the court has to say about this one (if he is found guilty, I swallow my words). The immigrant will now start an extreme-left party.
Our government is green-socialist-liberal(right) btw.
It's been raining for days on end causing limited flooding.
Law voted to close down our 7 (Doel:4, Tihange: 3) nuclear reactors by 2025. (Don't like hearing that as I'm studying to be a nuclear engineer )
Belgium exporting weapons to Nepal, a country engaged in civil war. (liberals responsible for this one too ) Green minister let it pass, violating green pacifist ideology; thus resigned.
Christianity among young people in Belgium down to 6%. Atheïsm on the rise.
Most liberal euthanasia-law in the world came through. People suffering with no prospect of getting better can ask to be given a lethal injection from a doctor.
Think that's about it.

And my vote goes to the socialists if anyone would care; however, previous message was unbiased; as hard as it may be to believe that.

I'll keep you guys posted.

We should really have updates monthly on this!!!
I'm willing to do Belgium.

Why shouldn't they adapt to Belgian culture, they live in Belgium, & there are certain cultural responcibilities that people should live up to in each country.

Well here's a short review of what's been happening in Greece the last few months (not that anybody cares but I'm gonna write it anywayz ):

First of all on the foreign affairs front the most dominant issues have been Cyprus & relations with Turkey. As some might know Greece & Turkey have been age long rivals (since before America was even discovered...) & relations between the 2 states are not that good even today. The biggest problems between Greece & Turkey is undoubtedly the Cyprus issue. For those who don't know in Cyprus there are two ethnic groups: Greek & Turkish, with Greeks being 70% & more of the population. Turkey invaded the island in 1974 pretensing that the turkish minority was beeing oppresed & has occupied the northern part of the island ever since. There is a plan underway from UN secretary Anan for a reunification of the island with a single state in the form of a federation & both sides have agreed to hold talks based on it but there is still a long way to go. Other issues include some border disputes (mostly about small rocky islands in the Aegean sea) & Turkey's european prospect which someone mentioned before. Greece does not oppose, but encourages Turkeys EU application in hope that it will help resolve the differences between the 2 states. Turkey got a date to start negotiations with the EU in the end of 2004, but there are rumours that many EU countries don't want Turkey to join the union. We'll see how this plays out in the future.
The biggest success for Greece was the accesion of the free part of Cyprus in the EU regardless of the result of the talks for the political problem.

In internal affairs we have the trial of the 18 members of the terrorist group November 17 coming up. These were arrested in the summer for over 25 murders of politicians, etc, bombings, robberies & other stuff in the last 27 years.
Then there are the preparations for the Olympic Games of 2004 which have turned Athens into a giant worksite & cause a bit of traffic chaos during rush hours.
Another issue was the reformation of the social security system which was near collapse & the resolution of the royal fortune issue with the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights. In brief the king was evicted from Greece in 1974 with a referendum, but it was unclarified what would happen with his belongings. In 1994 the goverment confiscated it & the former king appealed to the ECHR claiming a compensation of over 500 million Euros. The court gave him about 35 million Euros.

That's pretty much the everything from here, we look forward to an even better 2003!
