Ag, F&L (especially the first CD) is fucking insane. Listened to it on headphones in a record store and after the first 4 tracks I thought, yep, I'm buying this.

My first two techno albums I ever owned were Aussie ones back in 96/97 (when I was 13/14). The first was filled with Liberator goodness (of both the Chris and Julian variety - to this day "The Rabbit's Name Was.... " remains as one of my favourite tracks of all time) the second one was slightly less good (filled with stuff we'd now call Hard House) but still tapped into my barely pubescent mind. :-/

Er, anyway, these days I'm more of a progressive man, but I still love a bit of techno now and then (especially after seeing Jeff Mills back in March - best set I ever saw, no exception). When I saw this topic I was going to suggest Fear and Loathing (for the rawness and the sheer energy) and Ritchie Hawtin - Closer to the Edit 09 (for the sheer cleverness) but Timeport 3 was a good call too - it goes owf.

What're the recent Beyer and Mills artist albums like btw? Seen em in the shops, are the worth forking out for?

more chillout techno, ambient productions
not as you know him from his productions at labels like drumcode/illgorhythm/etc

but it's quite ok
not the best, not the worst

i'd rather wait until his newest release on truesoul is out, with a remix of ignition key, which he btw played on his essential mix last saturday as the first tune

For starters nothin he has made latley has anything original in it. He
releases 40 records a year each of which is boring and just to cash in. And the gatex remix's are a joke, im sorry but when u let shit remix's out like that (lieb mix is good however) u lose some respekt.
Sure he's got the talent but he's not exactly pushing the boundries.

mills latest album at first is good, it takes some time getting into it but when u do it's a nice lp.

I love his ignition key tune. Anyone heard the whole cd?

I'm a novice to techno, but the best techno album I've ever heard is Adam Beyer - Stockholm Mix Sessions. It is like verminator says more chill than what he regulary spins. It feels quite close to house and thats the sort of techno I really like. Techno with melodic elements is bliss imo. Anyone got recomendations, feel free to post them

Although I suggest gettin some live material from the artists mentioned in these posts. Cos live techno is where it's at. Or, if you can, go and see some of these guys! CJ Bolland & Jeff Mills are my fave's live.
