I like the melody, its quite nice, but this track is in some dire need of mastering, I don't know where to begin!

Drums sound like someone sat on them, weak and phased out, just like some of the percussion, not sure what software you used, but drums should pretty much be mono. (Sounds like Ozone)

Not too fond of the wide stereo feel either, sounds bad on headphones (percussion included).

The strings and the synth almost sound like they're coming out of a cheap speaker, a lot of frequencies are simply gone (especially the strings, they sound way too filtered).

I agree about the above comments regarding the piano, needs some fx, both standard and synth piano.

So to recap:

1) Use less stereo widening
2) Instruments need to be EQd properly
3) Kick sounds weak and compressed too much (sounds like Ozone again)
4) Look at 1

I appologize if these remarks are too harsh.

Excellent work.
Some suggestions:

1) The snare sounds too "wet," like in a big hall. It should be "drier" if you know what I mean -- less stereo
2) The drum-rolls in the build-ups sound a bit amateurish to me. They're too soft. I think they should be louder and stronger.
3) In many Trance anthems, such as Armin - Communication, you'll notice that the track doesn't really "develop" (particularly the bassline) until after the build-up. You start changing the bassline too fast. I suggest you follow Armin's technique, of having the same bassline at least, until after the big break. Right now the track develops itself too fast IMO

Good job!

Good work Lightworks

about the over all sound image, alot of frequencies don't sound right, alot of them are missing and have been EQed to high like the snare and high hats. The strings are very unnatural, you need a hell of a lot more depth, strings and pads should be full to fill in the gaps of no sound. The piano sounds the same.

the track is constructed well and your still inproving

Thx Eugene and Peter, I will work on them a bit more on future tunes. Perhaps people will finally have less to complain about and say something positive as well

Cheers
Wim
