let me start by saying that posting a forum that is mainly visited by guys may not have been the best idea for this one
Next time call your local kids help line or planned parenthood and they will be able to give you correct answers right away
Now, as for your question...
Having a late period does not mean your girlfriend is pregnant. It could mean she is stressed out (final exams...?), it could mean something has changed recently in her body such as her sleeping schedule or the foods she eats, it could mean she is sick, it could mean she has lost or gained weight. There are many many reasons for a girl's period to be late. In general doctors say not to worry about even a skipped period here or there but if you start skipping two or more to go get checked out (you could also have internal problems like an infection causing it). It could also mean she has changed work or school or the girls she is with recently. Women who spend a lot of time together will have their cycles change so that they are insync. It's really weird but it's true. I've had it take only a month sometimes it can take one or two months and then boom all of a sudden you're having your period the same time as 4 other girls in your office.
Now, your girlfriend DID have her period and it was 2 weeks late. No worries, the chances of her being pregnant are practically nill.
There is something that is called "implantation bleeding" where the girl will have what she thinks is a period but it is really just her body's response to having a fertilized egg implanted. I tell you this just so you are informed but do not panic. If a women has implantation bleeding it happens around the same time that her period should actually be due (this is due to the number of days that it takes for a fertilized egg to implant and the body to reacte) so she often thinks that it is her period arriving at it's regular time (albeit a tad lighter in flow than normal). Your girlfriend's period was late, so the chances of it being implantation bleeding are so slim I wouldn't even worry about it, especially since you said it was a full period and not just a light one or spotting.
It was most likely due to stress. I have skipped periods because of stress. Worry that I am pregnant and stress myself out and then my period doesn't come and I get more and more stressed and it still does not come. Late periods are really really common for anyone who is not on birth control, and especially younger women.
If your girlfriend IS on birth control and she was late it could be due to her not taking her birth control properly. It needs to be taken every 24 hours, not once a day as some people believe. That is why you need to set a time that you will remember it and be able to take it every day (and why when you wake up is a bad time...ie you get up at 7 during the week and noon on the weekends)
If you are still worried go buy a pregnancy test. They can be used as early as the day after a girl's period is late and are something like 99.99% accurate. They check to see if there is a specific hormone in your urine. If you are pregnant that hormone MUST be present, no ifs ands or buts. And buy the cheapest one, there is no point in spending loads of cash on it. They each do the exact same thing. The reason why some are more expensive than others is because they look nicer, that's about it. Ask the pharmacist, he will tell you the same thing.
cheers, goodluck, and stop worrying yourself and your girl
