what if i told you i am 45 would it still be ?

im not hear to flame you....this is just my 2cents.

oK an age feature is fine as long as, its grouped i.e 14-17 , 18-21, 22-25 ect ect.

you said you want to know a respondents age when you post.....you still havent given a valid reason as to why!....its always "i would like to know how old blah blah blah...."

first of all it does make a difference about your age when u reply to a thread, if someone is bring up topics from the past and a 16 year old is throwing in their 2 cents, i want to be sure that the person was at least out of diapers when the event occured and knows first hand what the topic is about, not something they overheard from someone older. also, although im only 24, i have 8 years life experience more than a 16 year old, and im not saying im more intelligent than a 16 year old, im saying im more experienced...most (not all) 16 year olds still live under mommy's and daddy's roof and dont have the same worries and fears of someone my age. also it would be interesting to see if certain age groups or genders all feel the same way on certain topics. if we are having a discussion about how "going to war with iraq is going to raise the price of gasoline 2 dollars"...a 16 year old isnt going to care because they dont have to buy gas. as for someone being 45 on this post, if they are in a "who's hotter..mary kate or ashely olsen" then i know that person is a freak and not to take anything they say seriously.

yes people can lie about their age, but not everyone will.

What happens if the topic is History or even Ancient History im pretty sure no one is from such an era!.

As future consumers a 16yr old has as much say in such a topic as you and i.
+ If a 16yr old doesnt buy gas the majority wont join in such a discussion.

They will if they are a 16yr old who worries about how "going to war with iraq is going to raise gas prices" and their say is not taken seriously. Thus opening the doors to a whole different ball game(and then your back to square one).

I still disagree

what if the question is how did u feel when Rap made it's apprearence in the world and compare it to Trance's beginnings, ...that is history because it Rap's beginning happened in that past, although a 16 year old may have extensive knowlege about the beginnings of Rap, they wont be able to tell me how they felt when groups like run dmc and the beastie boys started being played all over the radios. if i am in the political forums and we were talking about the similarities between feudal japan and europe during the middle ages, although high school touches on both these subjects, there are college courses that go into this much more deeply.

how am i stereotyping...if someone asked me how did i feel when kennedy got shot..i couldnt tell them because i wasnt born yet. i could be the foremost expert on the kennedy assassination..i might be ablt to tell u what he had for breakfast that morning...but i will never be able to tell u how i felt when the announcement went out that he was killed. if someone asked who was the best DJ they heard live..most people under 18..or 21 in the states couldnt answer because they cant get into the clubs yet to see them. so i want to be able to see if the posts are for real or if its someone just trying to get a reaction from the rest of the people who post.

disagree with me all u want..its not u i have to pursuade

I think it's a great idea and hope it will be fulfilled soon.
Why not make a poll or something about it?

I think showing age and gender would be cool. You should just have the option to show it and if you don't wanna share it then just don't add it into ur profile, would be nice to have viewable on all posts but just in the profile is better then nothing.
