they arent narrow minded, they probably used to listen to trance and now have moved on to progressive. i never thought the day would come that i would like progressive, but i do. it is a just a preference, and armin does happen to have a radio show every week. most trance heads in here are narrow minded. they leave messages on this forum without even thinking what they write. they dont like progressive, yet they say progheads need to expand their music knowledge, well the progheads did expand and that is why they listen to prog when they used to listen to trance. i think all the trance heads that write all that stupid shit about ignorance and stuff need to expand their musical horizons.
i also do agree with the last part you wrote. whether you like cheese or progressive, who cares, its fuckin music, if you like it, then you shouldnt be worried about what someone else says about it, because are you listening to it because you like it, or because its cool?

well, back in 98 99, it was seriously, fuck, i cant even explain it, but yea, perhaps ina few years, all the tunes out now will be classics, and that is what made it a great time, although 2001 wasnt too great, but this year has been better, still i think the best years were in 98-00, or part of 00

I wrote that because it's true! I don't go around calling ppl ignorant and narrowminded without a reason too do so.

Don't get me wrong I wasn't saying that ppl that listen to progressive where ignorant (some act that way tho ) there's lots of ppl listening to trance that are just as ignorant!
I think everybody oughta be more opened minded to music and respect the music for what it is.
U don't like everything u hear but just because "you" don't like it doesn't make it bad.

what do you mean armin isn't commercial?!?!? as far as i'm concerned he is the most commercial bastard in the business at the moment. maybe he isn't nsync but he definitely plays and makes a lot of crap that sucks because he knows that a lot of you idiots will buy it for some reason...i like prog and trance...but they have to be good either way...i also hate stupid minimal prog that sucks ass too so you can't say i'm just a prog head. armin isn't commercial? just look at the crappiest tune of the year...yet another day.

Lets not kid ourselves armin, and most of the other top dj's are commercial. No one ever achives major success without being commercial. It's important to note that I'm not saying Armins in it for the cash, or that he's a sellout. I'm just saying that most trance is on some level part of the mainstream(especially outside the u.s), and Armin is no exception.

That said, Armin still rocks :P

The top 20 he spined wern't his choice of tracks or his choice of order, they were voted for by the fans.

Dont be scared of giving tracks you dont like a second chance as for in the second chance you give it, it might enlighten you to a part you didnt pay too much attention to and is awesome! I dont know if i am making sense but PROTA's understand.

That quote TiestoInTheMix said it too true. Let us Grow. The more we grow the more we love and understand electronic music. Str8 up.

why do we always need to categorize everything? what's the use of genres, and now even types of tranceaddiction?!!
besides, according to tiestointhemix a pro tranceaddict is not afraid to play and listen all kinds of electronica but shuns every form of cheese.. kind of paradoxical, isn't it? moreover, i'm very picky about the tracks i like, but these tracks cover all sorts of music styles. but, says tiestointhemix, i definitely haven't reached the supertranceaddict level yet, because a supertranceaddict likes nearly every tune that comes out!
this is just pathetic and ridiculous. let us forget about every category and listen to whatever we like..

btw, most of the dj's and producers are commercial, as they're in it for the money.. this is and always will be a capitalistic environment.

artists need money too. I think it's nothing wrong to put out a comercial track or two, if you're a talented producer that is respected by the underground scene. look at Junkie XL, who's dissing him for remixing Elvis? no-one's saying he's commercial.

Armin is one of the best trance dj's around, if not the best (at least he's my favourite). He DOES make some commercial stuff. I heard once dust.wav on MTV Dancefloor Chart, and personally, I didn't think it was better than Lasgo's or Ian Van Dahl's tracks. that top 20 showed the worst tunes armin played in ASOT, yes the fans voted for it, but remember all of those tunes he played on the radio. That is the commercial part of his sets. But when he plays the real underground stuff (most of time) he's awesome and not commercial at all.

Now what I hate is when prog/house fans say "all trance is a commercial piece of shite". It's not. Simple. There is good and bad trance. As there is good and bad house.
