well that depends on what kinda math. If your just practicing, just to get your foundation on that unit solid...then its ok. If its a problem that requires concentration....then its pretty obvious u need some quiet. I go to the university's student centre a day before every test to review and study. If I stay at home...ill get distracted by msn...msg boards phone etc. I bring with me..my discman, books, change for coffee and my cdrs. Plug in my earbuds and im away to go for studying...even for math!(this is for practice tho..shudnt listen to music if ur trying to learn the material)
I use earbuds so I dont get distracted of my surroundings...i just let my self fall into trance and my work. I may bob my head to the music..but its no harm. This way I dont fall asleep from such dullness like linear algebra

Sorry guys, but unless you're writing essays for bullshit courses, beer is only going to hurt your studying.

Stick to coffee or tea, or weed (some people say this helps them, I have no idea).

Repeat: drinking beer, listening to trance, and having your girlfriend in the room (by the way, how do you manage to pull off these 3 items at the same time, even without studying?) may be lots of fun, but will generally result in a FAIL unless you already know the material down cold. Especially the girlfriend bit, you need to get rid of 'em the week before the final, they should understand that you have more important things to deal with. Seriously. They'll be there for you again when the exams are over, no need to spend every waking minute with them.

Incidentally, I tend to turn on the ambient/chillout music if I'm studying at home. It's pretty hard to sit still in my chair when the trance (or D&B or any other upbeat music) is on.

No, no man, tell you the truth there is always beer and trance but not the girls, i can't study if my g/f was in the room. Maybe some ppl can, but it takes too much power to force my self to concentrate on the book.

My brain is working 100% to Matt Hardwick, J00F, and tiesto. AVB and Ferry turn my studying abilities down.

to Mecha: Centennial COLLEGE, MAX GPA 4.5, not, like @ humber or seneca.

Actually you're right about that, I mean in general. Some trance isn't as 'busy' so it works pretty well as background music. Tiesto would drive me nuts trying to study, personally, but Christopher Lawrence, some of AVB, Art of Trance, Terra Ferma (OK, so that one's not exactly trance, who cares), all good.

Actually, people will probably say this is stupid, but I like psytrance when I can't concentrate... some Hallucinogen puts me right in the groove.

I still totally disagree with the beer, though. How can anyone say that this works? Alcohol screws up your concentration and short-term memory, that's a physiological fact.
