Well I've used just about all of them out there, and I can say this with confidence: screw software, hardware is the way to go.

[cue flamewar]

All the hardware you need is a mic, a tape recorder, and your voice.

i say fruity is very pro. the sounds u get out of fruity is louder, u don't need to worry much about eq & compression (unlike reason where the sounds are too low)

Depends on what you mean by producing.

If im recording a band, I will want to either record straight into a high end console....i wish or if that isnt possible it will be protools. Mixing and mastering of the tracks will also be done in protools,

For sequencing I would use Logic audio, I would still master in be protools. force of habit

For mastering I use an array of outboard gear, depending on what studio im using at my school, the WAVES plug ins are a must. in the waves bundle, I use the Q10 EQ, R1 Cmpressor, C4 Compressor/Eq, and The l1 Ultramaximizer on a regular bases, if you havnt tryed the waves plugins you need to, this is the stuff thats in almost every recording studio around. I know a few engineers that dont master without them.

lol screw software? have you ever been to a recording studio?. Even the most oldschool analog purist engineers i have met over the years know and respect the role of software in the industry. But hey if your down with just making brutaly amature productions then thats cool

Do some sequencers have a better sound engine, i.e do some sequencers reproduce a sample/vsti more accurately than others...or are all the same?
