Slight difference.

how is a 'all wheel drive' car with 4 wheels different to a '4 wheel drive car' that also has 4 wheels?

the off-road ones have different modes and shit dont they?

jp, is that yours?
22b?

difference in philosophy .. i'm not a car nut so i can't explain it particulaly well

though i have noticed recently those smaller 4WD cars (think Daihatsu Terios, Honda CRV etc) are being marketed as AWD, not 4WD

Holy shit, that isn't the 22B is it? If it is, god damn, you have one quick Scooby.

Heheh... you fellas should see the havoc caused in the road down to my school. Parking all down one side, the car's are either a BMW, Merc or a big 4WD. Parking all down one side of the street (not the parralel kind) and the traffic is non stop down the road during the peak times (before n after school). So how do you get outta ur parking spot? Merely stick the thing in reverse and jam ya foot on the accelerater. Might as well close ur eyes as you pull out infront of traffic, as either way, if ur gonna crash, ur gonna crash

If a 4wd isn't going to be used in situations where it's required, its pointless...although its fair if you have a big family or go on road trips and need the space.

The first 4 wheel drive car was build by Dutch people

"The Spijker"

Last year, some people designed and released a new Spijker:

Subaru was the first to make a modern 4WD road car, the Leone (1972)
