The Train
People were verrryy quiet. In fact, the few times people were loud, it was Americans! Very safe too.. many people sleep on the train, including me, with my bags around my feet. I never was worried people would take them, thats how safe Japan feels.

I was quite suprised to hear this,
as I have talked to a few girlies who went to Japan,
and said lots of groping goes on the train.
Like any random business/salary man, would just come by
get a nice firm grab on your bum, and get off at the next stop.
Interesting.

| quote: | | by sothisEVERYONE has a cell phone. They are also way more advanced than ours. I wish I would have taken a photo on the train... you look to each side and almost everyone has their phone out. But they don't really talk on it, they just email. They have an email system over there that lets you email, and it goes to your phone instantly. So everyone ALWAYS has their phone out, emailing. Not just teenagers, EVERYONE. Adults, businessmen, teenagers, 20 somethings, etc. |
it is probablu not e-mail, but SMS.. short message service. You can send up to 160 characters. Since in many countries this is cheaper than a phone call, people tend to use that more often. you can get it in the USA as well, if you use a GSM based cell phone provider (t-mobile for example), but there is little reason for it in the US, since calling is soo inexpensive.
the major advantage is when you are at a club. just READ what the person is telling you, no need to scream over the music etc.
