Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.

Hard Choice to say who is best

They are both top DJ's

I have DJ Tiesto - Live at NEC 2000 on Video and PVD live at mayday 2000

Both Great Vids, but tiesto done it for me

They Play great music, it would be a shame to say who i thought was best.

Keith

Jeez, why not argue about your taste in women while you guys are at it?

Some like the mother, some like the daughter - who cares who we think is better?

PvD at Twilo has to be one the greatest experiences ever. I have had the opportunity to hear them both spin, I heard both PvD and Tiesto spin at Innercity in 2000, and I have to say PvD blew the roof off of that place!

Re: PvD vs. Tiesto

3 things.

1. threads like vs. are stupid because they cause flame wars wether that was the intention or not (not in this case)

2. they don't get anyone anywhere because everyone has different opinions and you can't do much about that.

3. PvD is more uplifting and Tiesto is more progressive, a little more slowed down then PvD (in my opinion anyways). Comparing the two would be like comparing oil and sugar

Just my 2 cents

PvD's mixing skills>>>>Tiesto's mixing skills

I'm talking about pure technical skills... beatmatching... cueing... use of effects... timing... all that...

For a guy who's been djing for most of his life, Tiesto really doesn't show enough skill... he never concentrate's on his mixing enough (at least when he spins here) and it's noticeable in his rushed mixing... He's bad with the EQ's.. too much treble... than a crapload of bass.. or a badly timed beat drop... and he's gotta get rid of that turned up treble, turned down mids/bass move he always pulls... blech...He chooses bad cue points... lets tracks build up and die down too much killing much of the flow in a set... if I just wanted to hear tracks played consecutively I'd stay home.. which is probably what I'll do from now on when he's in town....

PvD's got skills... he's concentrated on his mixing and it shows in his cueing and eq control... he rarely misses a cuepoint... and never sounds like he was rushed to do a mix... he uses effects.. flanger and that stuff... he uses beat machines... not only generic ones but one where he records his own beats and hi hats to add to tracks during his sets... just listen to Mayday 2000, I think, there's a trebline that's in the whole set and there was an article about his little toy a year or two ago... there's just so much more he does technically to make his sets special...

Now, keep in mind I was talking about pure technical mixing skills... I don't care about track selection because that's a matter of opinion.... technically, though PvD wins hands down...

i was just gonna say that. You can't tell which one is better because it relates to taste, personally i think pvd has some nice mixing trix :P but tracklist goes no way near what tiesto spins. Tiesto is more of my style too so...

I would have to go with tiesto on this one. PVD has done some great work but tiesto has just done so much great work.
