hmmm welllllll

i'd have to say where i live, 3rd biggest city in aus, that trance doesnt really exist here, we're pretty much a hardhouse/dnb/breaks town. But it's not to say we shun trance, on the other hand, we are shunned by promoters for some reason. Ferry didnt visit late last year when he was over here (instead went to smaller cities), and pvd's national tour (even though i wouldnt go to see him) won't be coming here too. This follows a familar pattern of being shunned by many europeans that tour here. So it's more by force, rather than option, that most of the ppl here are far more dnb/breaks/hardhouse orientated. Having said that, the quality of artists/dj's in those genres that tour is of first class standard. Which is also the reason, i believe our local dj's are of a very high standard too.

If we are talking about the popularity of trance as a form of music, then yes it is definately picking up. More and more people around the world are getting aquainted to trance and more and more trance DJs are getting the recognition they deserve. Yes, sales are picking up, trance as a business is making more money.

But is that terrific news?

Popularity doesn't guarantee standard. Trance as a music genre is slowly on the decline- it's just getting more and more predictable. People now know when to expect a synthline coming, and when a breakdown is going to end. I can hardly get the goosebump feeling listening to uplifting trance anymore. What gives?

I'd rather trance remain unpopular but we get an amazing track every few days.
