C'mon people, it's ridiculous to get so upset about headphones...
Anyway, here's an objective viewpoint.
Dj-Steve, I didn't maltreat my V700's a single bit. On a whole, I take very good care of my equipment, especially my DJ gear (headphones included!).
Keeping that in mind, the swivels on my V700's started to crack a few months after I got them. This was from using them at a level that I assumed would present no difficulty (especially for DJ phones!) - about moderate-slightly heavy use. But no "abuse" at all, per se. Anyway, after getting them fixed, I've "lowered" the use level to very little... I only use them now when practicing at home at high sound levels (for "simulating" a club etc), or when out spinning at loud levels (house parties and such). All in all, they amount to little use. My 7506's get more usage. But they can take it.
However what I really really want to say to you, Dj-Steve, is that it is pointless to try to convince others that, say, the V700's are "good" if they think they're "bad" (whatever those two mean). Likewise, it's even worse to be affected by others' opinions, especially emotionally!!!
Because, really, who are we? We're not you! And you matter, not us. It's like when someone gets a letter with bad news, and they get angry because of it, when they were previously happy. Stupid! Why should they get angry, because of a piece of paper?
Anyway this is getting somewhat philosophizing, so I'll stop. I hope you get my meaning, though.
Enjoy your phones! But I recommend you try some other phones too, you may be pleasantly surprised!
