being a huge trance/techno head, but also being a DJ, I'd have to say that Rap has more bass. yes the bass is louder, but crappier and can often drone out the 'rapping' their equivalent to vocals
Rap has more bass, but the bass in a trance/techno track is put to better use.

hmm.. i think.. that in rap.. the bass is more than just a bump (as in trance). It's more like a bump and afterwards, lots of vibration (this is on good subwoofers), whereas trance... it's just a kick, and it usually comes regularly, too. So i guess it depends on what you like...
