XP is the best Microsoft OS to date. it is not safe nor secure but much more quality/professional than any previous versoin of windows.
Homebuilt pc is the way to go. its cheap, fun, and u can gain some experience. its much better for the home than those prebuilt pc unless u are lazy, newbie or u work for a corp

heh.. the thread has been hi-jacked.. but some crazy error happened to me two or three days ago on XP:
playing on winamp a huge .wav file, everything freezes and it gives the error message "Error asking thread to die". reboot solved the problem

the problem is that your wav file probably used up a lot of resources..
and if the pc cannot kill the thread anymore (part of a program) it is not cool.. nothing serious though.
