I enjoyed Armin's earlier work, such as Communication, Major League - Wonder, and some others, but the latest releases are shit. I guess he's trying to be "cool."

Maybe I haven't been looking in the right places, but I'm surprised not to have seen any discussion about his Essential MIx that aired last night. Check it out on the Radio 1 archives this week!

just b/c he stepped up to the plate to say he doesnt care for armin and goes against all the armin bandwagoners doesnt mean that he dislikes trance.. thats the beauty of it, trance is quite diverse and so is TA. there are so many variation to trance be it progressive, hard, goa, etc etc... and that also applies to TA, it doesnt only attract epic trance/armin style trance addicts

Hm, I consider the tracklist of this album the essence of what we refer to as 'trance'. I'm pretty there's a general consensus that those tracks are hallmarks of the trance "culture". Regardless of the dj behind this mix I doubt that some1 who calls this cd "utter wank" is a TRANCEaddict.

sorry, i forgot that this thread was about tracid.

if you can tell me how in any way that armin is innovative, different, fresh or exciting in anyway of late, then ill gladly take back what i sed.

also, let me just underline what i sed earlier... i sed i DO like normal trance..... or atleast i did, but the normal trance of the last year or so, has been samey and rather boring, with the exception of tomcraft - lonliness <<< this is the sorta track im on about.... a COMPLETELY NEW DIFFERENT APPROACH, unlike the like of ligaya and the usual run of the mill trance which has graced us so much this last year.

also. like i sed.... how many tracks like push - legacy, have been released this last year? ... push - legacy, being a brilliant innovative successful tune of epic proportions.

i hope i dont detect any elitism here because i listen to hard music, you think i dont know what im talking about, cos i can assure you, youd be very much mistaken TranceSmalltimer. oops i mean TranceGiant, good day.

Read properly!

I said Bounderies Of Imganination (the Black Hole CD) is the only Armin CD I like, the rest is shite IMO.

Red face

No, no elitism here. ( I actually like my hard-trance from time to time, tracid still sucked, but nevertheless it was childish of me to tell you that as an counter-"attack" ).
Just that Im sick of this never-ending story of overhyping followed by ultra-bashing in this forum. The "bandwagon" accusation got so trendy that nowadays a huge bandwagon of those who bash ppl for loving the usual suspects (pvd, ferry, armin and tijs) exists. People who DO Like the , in my opinion, pioneers of what we call trance scene are slowly becoming a minority.
I see people moaning and bitching like grammas about "good ol' times", people who months before made this forum a big "OMFG!!"-orgy praising their now "selling out" idols.
Make no mistake, criticism is not only tolerated but also necessary. However what's going on here lately has nothing to do with criticism anymore. It's very shallow behavior of "breaking taboos" by bashing some of the big names. Every1 thinks hes a hero when vashing PVD and "fighting" the so-almighty PVD alliance. Wtf's up with this paranoia? Does it make certain ppl better to "break the rules" ?(which they themselves proclaimed as such!).
Oakey's been bashed since I know this forum, last summer we had the collective Tiesto-crucification, then PVD Anti-alliances (how fucking funny that was) and now it looks like it's armin turn. Same with single tracks (ligaya, southern sun, urban train, sunburn) or trance as a whole "look at me, im cool and underwent the progressive-metamorphosis", "trance is becoming commercial and shit!". Some arguments are very justified and jdging productions is always subjective, but thats not the point here. It's this culture of endless very short-sighted(all that counts is now..realy?) bitching, this mass hysteria and the anti-bandwagon paranoia.

bah.

i 100% agree with you mate, i never say sumthing is shit without giving a justified arguement, i never ever say that my music is better than anyone elses.

regarding armin.... im sure anyone hoo knows me will tell you that my views on armin have been publicly displayed for months and months and months now.... the reason i dont like him... because he gains all the respect of uneducated trance noobs (i aint saying everyone that likes him r noobs) hoo see what he plays or produces as the perfect example of trance music as a genre...... and i agree, but what im saying is... for the status he now has, he doesnt produce or DJ to a brilliant standard.
His productions are good never the less... but the point im making is, he isnt as good as he shud be. I DID admit earlier that i saw him once and thoght he was good, but seen him a few other times, and ive been most unimpressed.
As for tiesto... in the last 2 years that i have been going to nearly every gatecrasher, and ive seen tiesto.... out of about 10 times, he has only played 1 good set, and that was cos he played a trademark set on new years eve. i have always had the same view on tiesto.
Ferry has never done anything for me at all, so i cant comment on him cos i dont focus a single bit of my attention to him.

Again/. my main point is.... trance for the last year has been a bore with no new sounds or ideas (apart from tomcraft - lonliness, for one). so as a whole... armin has gone to pot with the style. i think the next year will probably be the year of tomcraft, and he will bring new fresher sounds to trance music.. and he will be this years pioneer... and i hope so very much that he is....cos he deserves it

p.s im not a avid tomcraft fan either, but i like his workings

edit:.... also as i sed earlier, if anyone can prove me wrong about armin not being innovative. and can prove to me that he is worthy of his current status thru his performance of the last few months, then ill gladly take it back

peace
