it's so true about having to be versatile aronud here (upper midwest) to keep people in the clubs. I remember one night going to a decent club and it just so happened they decided to drop into a house set shortly after the arrival. From one song to the next I'm just hoping he'd be ballsy enough to drop something like tic-toc (magik music) or something like that.. one of those tunes that kinda' skirts the edge between house and trance. Closest I got were a two anthems. I was really disappointed. My buddy that used to dj at a local club in this town has dropped trance tunes in a house set and people didn't just go running off the floor, if people would take a chance, sometimes it'll work out.

Anyhow, as for the actual topic at hand, yeah it's more hated here in america. The most mindblowing comment I ever heard is some girls complaining about "techno" because "you can't dance to it." To this day, that one still boggles my mind (and this happened over half a year ago). There is one thing that I'm grateful for though living here. It keeps my options open, and I learned to love all styles of trance, not just one main type, and have grown to really like techno, and not mind (some) house, and even tolerate (sometimes even like) anthems/cheese and even not mind some more jungle and drum and bassy type stuff. I kinda' doubt I'd have been that open minded in other environments.

Down here no ones ready for REAL TRANCE, they want to hear is Sash Dj Encore and britney spears remixes so i feel your pain brother!!!

Honestly I'd say that we all have a similar problem...........and its that we all live in the United States of America

Cuz lets face it, there really isnt a scene here like there is in the UK, germany, holland etc.

Hopefully one day that will all change for us, but it will probably be awhile........oh well one can always dream right?

What do you put into your live sets that has made you a dancefloor favorite for the past decade?

"I’m a dance floor favorite? Great! I would say the passion that I feel for the music I buy and the honesty with how I play it. I play the records I love not the ones that simply work. I’ve never taken the easy music option (which would make me a lot more money by the way) but chosen to push people a little. I try to draw people in a new direction slightly and expand their taste a little more than other DJ’s." - Lee Burridge

Now im not saying all hip hop is bad, but there are rappers and people out there making bad names and whatnot,, hip hop artist create bad names for themselves this genre is full of killings and charges, and feuding, and hate and drugs etc. etc. not to mention "bling bling" money throwing, women degrading ETC, ETC, who the fuck wants to see that crap? The list can go on & on...., im not saying all hip hop artists are bad, but there are some in that crowd that just pull the others down way under ground, and out of the respect that people once had for such a breakthrough genre of music.

Personally I like it how most people don't listen to trance. When I used to listen to hip-hop and alternative a while back I would get so sick of all the songs that I used to like because they would get so overplayed on the radio. Then you got a whole crapload of posers who are into it simply to be cool and don't even know anything about the music they listen to. With trance you have to work to get your music and you acquire a true appreciation for it. All the posers are weeded out because it truly requires passion to continually get new music.

If anything I WANT there to be less people listening to trance hehe. That way I could get more dancing space at clubs. Although obviously I still want enough people to listen to it so that the clubs make money and book awesome DJs!

It's true that trance probably does have a bad rep, but it seems to me like some people *gas* really dont like trance, and theres nothing wrong with that.
