Yeah the old AG as it was back in the day has never known a match since or even one remotely close. Even the hub cannot stand up to how AG was back in the day. The hub is amazing don't get me wrong, but I love psy and goa and there was almost never a song I could not find on AG. I remember I could take just about any live set and go straight from top to bottom and find every track and on AG. Those were the days...

Napster was the first but the newer ones definitely have beaten it, especially Audiogalaxy.

Btw, what exactly is a hub? And can I normally connect to it with a 56k modem?

Bleh. The old AG was way better. I just searched for "ferry", no results. I tried "corsten", no results. I tried "system f", finds some fucking System Of A Down

AG satellite was awesome.. I was the first site (AFAIK) to set up a button that would queue that file on your satellite assuming you were still logged into AG/had the cookie on your machine. That saved me over 300 gigs a week in bandwidth use, and it was great for the people on slow connections since they could always resume if they got caught off..

awww.. memories

ya, i remember when you introduced that swamps...it was still before my time on the forums. It was an amazing feature, too bad you can't do it with any of the other programs around now.

by the way, here is another article about napster

Napster will always hold a special place in my heart, because it started it all. AG obviously kicked much ass and will be greatly missed.

I read that article. Funny thing is Roxio buys Napster and gets rid of p2p file sharing...hmmm what is left? Just the name of course and their subscriber base. Since the record industry has granted them rights to distribute music online, I wouldn’t be surprised that they own most of Roxio stock and are using it as a front. I'm sure they'd also like to put their finger on CD burning software, which is gateway to copy music to non-computer devices.

AudioGalaxy was my favorite out of all those things because 1) it had a very small program itself, 2) web-based, so I can queue files from my friend's house so it'll download at my computer, 3) you can queue files even if the person is not online.

There was a clone of AG not long ago, by clone I mean:

1. Similar web-based interface with offline queueing
2. Small client, just like AG

http://mediaseek.pl/mediaseek/

Its down for a long time (a month), though

first thing to pop up in my head when i saw the title of this thread. damn right.

it was so easy. just type in the artist name, queue up the first 20 tunes, and that's all the work i had to do. AG was the BEST p2p program out there... so simple... even on 56k. the hub is just too cumbersome for me to use with all the slots stuff & bad resume...

and i've never been able to get mediaseek to download anything; besides, it has been down for such a long time, just like bilange said.
