In my eyes, bashing is not a critic, bashing is a personal attack. When you dont mean the person then dont say it, simple as that. I cant imagine the people defending bashing here like to be bashed themself for something they do. Very hard to believe... You should act against others like you want to be treathend yourself, that is my motto. So no bashing but constructive critism.

true dat - BUT, bashing is not "constructive" criticism. I'd call bashing "pointless criticism". Someone on this board said that serious dj's SHOULD know how to distinguish between advice and comments that have some element of truth or logic behind them - That's so true. If you can't handle that, THEN you're in the wrong biz.

I can't imagine Armin sitting in the studio contemplating why someone said "he sucks balls" as opposed to thinking about someone saying "his music and production skills have diminished over the years because of ..." (I'm not saying they have, just using that as an example).

true...

but isn't there some reasoning behind a bash? if i say "armin sucks balls for making dust.wav" (and he does ), well, i'm criticizing him because he made a shitty track... and you might think "well, that's your opinion" and that's exactly it...

it's my opinion and if i think something's shit i'm gonna bash... you've gotta accept that when you're in showbiz and if you get offended by it.. well, you suck balls...

hmm.. i think i'm getting off topic now.. i just like to bash..

edit.. actually... i like giving constructive criticism when something warrants it... but when we're talking about a crap track like dust.wav, just listening to it makes you realize why it deserves criticism...

one of the reasons i like trance, is because i can somewhat escape all the stuff about listening to certain stuff because it's popular to do so. i can listen to what i like without being influenced by others. but, with the amount of new people we're getting, it's impossible sometimes to shelter myself from all the commercializm that's going on. people don't look at the bigger picture anymore - one trainwreck, and they're calling a dj a wanker.

aren't we, the electronica fans, supposed to be some of the most understanding and open-minded music addicts? instead, we're the opposite of that, constantly forcing our opinions onto others.

the problem with dj bashing is that some people join in the bandwagon. especially the newbies who haven't been exposed to a certain dj that is going through a rough spot. They will wan't to join on the Tiesto bashing per say just to seem knowledgeable. They aren't really expressing their feelins just expressing some one else's views. ohhh TIESTO SUCKKKS j/k
