sorry, as much as i love the Leafs, I don't think they have the co-ordination between eachother and defense to go all the way. Just look at the way Detroit schooled them.

Detroit is the best team in the whole NHL, so that's not a big deal. Also, none of the new trades were made at that time, and Roberts just got back from his injury, so i don't think using the Detroit game as an example of why they won't make it this isn't quite valid. Toronto has beaten Detroit before. Now, Toronto does have to get use to working with the new guys and shift shake-ups, for them to make a solid effort. If they can do that, then Toronto definitely has a good chance of doing it this year.

the funniest (and saddest) thing in the world will be when the Senators meet the Leafs in the playoffs, which is almost inevitable. The Leafs eliminated the Sens every single time, which was like 4 times now, wasn't it? LOL, if this happens again this year...LOL, getting eliminated by the same team 5 years in a row; Ottawa will really hate us then...and the players will probably go postal following the game. |
i doubt the sens will face the leafs this year... as of right now, the leafs will probably face philly in the 1st round... unless the leafs drop to last in the east (which isn't going to happen) they won't meet the sens until later in the playoffs... of course the sens never make it past the first round so a meeting later in the playoffs is also impossible, =P...
and if we DO meet in the 2nd or 3rd round, we'll just beat them silly like we have 3 years in a row, =P...

Typical leafs fan.. can't count. First that's 11 years and second I see 5 eastern conference cups and 6 western conference cups. In any case the Dallas Stars, Vancouver Canucks, Detriot Red Wings, Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues are still far more skilled teams. Getting Owan Nolan was huge and Wesley will definitely help a weak defense. But do you really think Doug Gilmour is actually going to help you? He certainly wasn't doing anything for Montreal. Whatever I dont even think you are skilled enough to get by the first round. With, leclair, gagne and amonte back for the flyers for the playoff, I wouldnt even look past the first round. If you do get by its going to be the sweetest feeling in the world watching your 70+ million dollar payroll team get slaughtered by a far more skilled bankrupt Ottawa Senators team. GOOD LUCK CHUMPS..

lol.
How did the Canadian mens olympic team win gold with all those oldies?
How did the Canadian womens olympic team lose four times in a row to the States and then win gold on the worlds biggest stage being short handed 13 times? (American Ref)
How did Doug Gilmour play 73 minutes in one game and still manage to score the game winner?
It's called "HEART" my friend and Ottawa has proven time and time again that they just don't have it. As an Sens fan you can't tell me that you weren't absolutely, positively, totally DISGUSTED at the lack of heart shown by Ottawa in the final game when the leafs knocked them out of the playoffs. You can lead the league in goals per game and get the most points during the regular season but the "zone" that players like Roberts, Gilmour, Yzerman, Sakic, Cujo etc reach during April & May is much too foreign to the likes of Hossa, Alfredsson and Arvedsson <---what a pussy!
Honestly the only player that commands respect on that team is Rob Ray....and I bet they don't dress him for the playoffs.
what a joke

They have the heart dont worry. For example: Alfredsson and another player wanted to win the cup badly enough this year that they deferred a few hundred thousand from their contract to be able to pick up some key players at the trade deadline. i agree there are some players, like radek bonk who really dont seems to care but they have been getting grittier and hungrier every year and they almost beat the leafs last year. If it wasnt for a trajic penalty when it was 3-1 series and a 2-0 the sens would have won that series. It wasnt a lack of heart that lost that series, it was a crushed heart.
And maybe the leafs do have heart, but how did it help them against Carolina? You can have all the heart you want but if you dont have the skill to back it up you arnt going anywhere.
