Time to jump into this. I think every country has the snobs (we are better than you). Americans treat me well, so do Canadians then again, I'm biased because my mom is american and my dad is canadian. I hold dual citzenship to the usa and canada. Then again...from the people that think they are better than others....how much of a population do they actually represent....less than 2%. Then again, I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Whoever said that Canada has the worlds 3rd smallest army is full of shit. There are tens of countries that don't even have an airforce. Many countries don't even have a standing army. I love how people just make up stats to help argue their case. 78% of all statistics are created by morons. All you people who say that Canada couldn't exist with the US are only looking at one side of the story. You quckly forget that Canada is the US's largest trading partner. It's fair to say that they couldn't exist without us. As far the american military protecting us, what exactly are they protecting us for? Last time I checked the americans haven't valliantly stopped any enemy attacks. Infact, the last time I checked the americans got the white house burned down by none other then the canadians. Perhaps they should work on protecting themselves. Anyway this whole xenophobia thing is getting old. Yes george bush is a moron, no that doesn't make all americans morons. This is not true. The reason Canada is the US's largest trading partner is because Canada needs America's money, so Canada sells goods to the US for very cheap. This includes wood, and oil. In a way, the US is using Canada to get cheap products.

Canada needs american money as much as america needs Canadian goods. If the americans could harvest trees or produce oil at cheaper prices they would. They can't so we make BILLIONS! off of them. Why do you think they thew a fit at the softwood lumber on the west coast? Because they couldn't come close to our prices even though we're making a killing. I suggest you brush up on your economics. Canada isn't getting the raw end of the stick here. We are both eachothers largest trading partner. It's a two way street here. If we all of the sudden blocked the border it would be chaos. We wouldn't have any finished goods, and the americans wouldn't have any raw materials.

After some time searching I've found a site that compares the military spending of a few countries. Now tell me how much Canada spends. And remember, there are only a few countries in NATO. Scroll down, look how much the Philippines spend, Malaysia, Indonesia...

Umm, there are other countries that the US can get their raw materials. Russia, South America. The reason they get it from us is because its cheap. They don't have to pay all these shipping costs and the rest of that mambo jumbo. Canada can't do that, some other countries need raw materials but its too expensive to get it from Canada because is isolated from the rest of the world. Canada is only in direct contact with the US.

I said that, some events happened because the world as we know it was totaly different than it is now. You can't say the US should watch its back just because Canada burned its white house 200 years ago.

If you think that's good policy then that's your call. I've never stated that canada spent the most on it's military, I mearly said that you were WAY OUT TO LUNCH when you said it was the 3rd last in the world.


Anything that happens to Canada has an adverse effect on the USA. yes we'd have to ship our raw materials all over the world, but they'd also have to ship their finished good somewhere else. It's much cheaper to ship raw materials world wide then it is finished goods. Hell we ship LOTS of raw materials world wide as it is. Canadian grain, ore, lumber has major internnational markets. You'll notice that 90% of american finished goods don't. No one wants to pay the high american wages when they can do it much cheaper in their own country. Again, I'll STRONGLY suggest that you brush up on econmics before further making yourself look like a fool.


I never sad the USA should watch their backs because canada was gonna go burn the whitehouse down agian. It was mearly an illustration showing that canada has nothing to worry about. We can protect ourself agasint any realistic threat out there. All the Billions the USA sunk into bombers and tanks didn't prevent sept 11th, and it won't prevent it from happening again either. Do you really think that Iraq is going to mobolize a fleet and start shelling the coast of nova scotia? We simply just don't need a huge military.
