hey, now now, i never called him a wanker.

and i never sed i hate him unjustly..... i told you, its not about catering for my tastes, no he aint my style but neothers tomcraft, but i enjoy to hear tomcraft play...... you know why?...... cos hes different. also as i sed in my last post, i went to gatecrasher for over 2 years listening to normal trance, and i enjoyed it.... cos trance waas good then, and ever changing...... but now we seem to be stuck on this milestone, and trance has been the same old smooozy for the last year, nothing has changed..... and after a year it gets tedious.... so what im saying is..... you say armin is the forefront of trance?....... fine, then he should prove it by pushing the sound onto the next level. the only way is up man, because of the last years mediocreness, i have stoppped listening to trance altogether, because it just dnt cut the mustard anymore. it might do to ppl hoo have only got into trance recently (im not saying thats you) because its still all new.

and theres no way that you can tell me that armin has been producing different stuff.... cos thats what its all about, creating new ideas and experimenting. i understand what you say about him sticking with what hes at now, ofcourse yeah, he enjoys it, ppl still enjoy it... theres nothing wrong with sticking by your guns for a while.... but the only reason im handing this discussion to you today, is cos i feel he should be trying new things, cos its been a long time since the last stage of evolution in trance occurred.

to sum up my argument.... you say armin is a god, a pioneer. ok then, then right now he should be doing what pioneers do.... try new things, and take the genre the way he wants to. a pioneer sets trends, not follows them, but i feel hes gotta make the change now, before sumone else beats him to it and becomes the next big thing.

[N]ûk|êû[Z] i think youve put foward some really good points and arguements. i agree with you on EVERYTHING you have said 100%. I think the armin hype will calm down after his album is released adn we realyl see what he is made of. If all his tracks are the same sounding and there are no original pieces, he's going to need a wakeup call if he really thinks people will continue to buy his material.

there's always going to be the ones that think the sun shines outta armins ass, but his sets have sucked the 2 times i have seen him live at the telewest arena, and his livesets are piss poor.

Tiesto has his haters aswell, but one thing you can say about him, is that his material ir original! how many variations of styles did he have on his album!? He tried new things and was very succesful imo. listen to system - f together album and all the tracks are the same style. im not going to start an arguement against ferry here, as he is a pioneer aswell, with tracks like punk which was very very original!!! + good

if you compare song for the ocean to communication, blue fear or any of armins earlier releases, its pretty feable. Especially when you consider he's used dust.wav beat again for the 3rd time (also in sunburn) and it sounds so remarkably close to a pvd beat aswell. its absolutely diar!!! There are TA's on this board that are producing better tracks that this (Re-Grooved for one) I heard his track glamorize about a month ago, and its so fresh, full of originality and creativity, something which is lacking in armins latest offerings.

As for remixing, Armins remixes ALL SOUND THE FUCKIN SAME!!! his remix of time is the healer is a classic example of his unimaginativeness to another artists track. At least with tiesto and ferry, you get different styles of remixing, with armin its really rather boring, and i can almost hear the remix before its been made. If he was decent i wouldnt be able to PREDICT what his mixes would sound like.

AVB, wakeup and do something original, stop being a sheep!!!

IMO...

I think Armin is doing a great job and is real with his fans. He plays great stuff, and is experimenting more with prog. His productions are top notch, and I'm looking forward to more from him. His ASOT's make my week better

His productions are not no where near his older self thats for sure and i think he may need to revaluate his game plan in that department

On the other hand, His live sets are mint though and he has some damn good mixing! Hope he keeps all the great work up

A lot of you seem to be bored or disenchanted with trance atm.
Armin is a Trance DJ and a Trance producer....if you are bored with trance you will be bored with him. This doesnt make him a bad dj/producer
GET OVER IT!

Armin is one of the nicest most down to earth DJ's and he is more in touch with his fans than almost any other DJ I've seen. I think that is one of the greatest things about him, regardless of what he spins.
What other DJ does anything close to what ASOT is?
What other DJ is gonna sit in a chatroom and talk with his fans, and tell them how he produced certain tracks?

calling any DJ a god is perposterous, calling any person a god is perposterous for that matter.
So no, I dont think Armin is a god, but I think he is a damn good DJ, a damn good producer, and a damn good guy.

Edit: and all you haters just wait till his new album comes out, I agree that song for the ocean isnt the greatest, but that's one song off a whole album. You'll see...

Armin will always kick ass. Remember kids, it's that "null and void" point in trance for the year.

He'll be back with a bang.

that exactly what im saying mate.

i AM bored with tranc eof the last year, cos it hasnt been very interesting, its just been the same, and cos trance is the same, armin spins the same.... the whole point im trying to make is....... if armins sposed to be this big pioneer that everyone makes him out to be.... then why hasnt he tryed to take it in a different direction.... to keep the critical ppl like me interested?...... after all that whats being a pioneer is..... being always ahead of the game, and being able to keep pppl liking you.

but now im off to bed

some very good comments, espically about how he should take a vacation so he doesn't burn himself.

But i dont agree with people saying that artist need to change their style, if he changes his style then he wont be Armin, he will be "Alias".

I know that his works sound the same but that is ARMIN's style. Although i agree with the fact that he should stay away from the cheese and come up with some new sounds to improve but not to change his "sound".

A very interesting topic indeed.

IMO, Armin's style was very unique when he came onto the scene. However, as time went by, he used the same bass & synth lines in most of his remixes / productions and pretty soon, they all started to sound the same. I believe that the time has come for him to take the next step and evolve his style to the next level.

That being said, I do love his DJ'ing style!
