wow, all this talk of me, and i wasn't even here!

anyway, i don't have much time, but a few quick things i want to mention.

the webhost i use, www.brinkster.com may be an american company, but the reason i use them is because it's FREE! So in a sense i am damaging the US economy by getting something for nothing. that's not why i do it, but i am certainly not supporting them with a single dime.

Second, i am not anti-american, i am antiwar that is a correct assumption.
unfortunately, this also cause me to be anti-american GOVERNMENT
I realize that the people of america are largely like me and have little say in what George Bush does, so i can't blame them. Nonetheless I do hold them more accountable than your average Iraqi for the actions of saddamn, because they can at least voice their dissent, wheras iraqis don't have that privledge.

Third, the Boycott America banner is a link to www.adbusters.org. I cannot change the text of the pledge, as i did not write it. I support it fully, however, it is impossible to completely abandon US products. This does not make me a hypocrite though, as i am trying my best. One significant thing i have done is to take the insurance off my car and stop driving. I am committed to not buying any more oil or gas until this war is over. It's true i may buy a coca-cola now and then, but at least i am doing what i can.

By having the image in my sig, i hope to spread the idea, that this is not to go unnoticed or uncontested by the rest of the world which does not support their recent actions. Now that the protests have not worked I guess we have to hit america where it hurts, in the pocketbook. And, being the reactionary type of country that they are, I know they will hit back. They are already thinking about economic actions against Canada for our antiwar stance, but i am prepared to suffer through hard times.

I do. There are only three major countries opposed to the war. Germany and Russia, because the Iraqi regime owes them a lot of money for weapons such as migs and if we topple them there is no way for them to recover this money. France, first their french, that's a ligitimate excuse i guess, but second they are the largest importer of Iraqi oil-for-food. They would lose there cheap supply of oil.

Support for the war in America is now over 70%

The coalition of countries supporting the action in Iraq now is larger than the countries that supported the first gulf war.

The reason for the thinking that the world is against the action in Iraq is because of the liberal nature of the media and the unpeaceful actions of the peace protestors splattered all over the news. They do not show the quiet many who, hate that it had to come to war, agree that the only action left to take is military.

I agree with you on the reasons for russian and french opposition. it's at least PART of the reason anyway, maybe even most. but as for this:

quote:
liberal nature of the media

bwhaha!! we have a political jokes thread you know..

in regards to the "coalition of the willing" did you know that:

a. In most of the coalition countries polls show that a majority, often an overwhelming majority, of the people oppose the war.

b. More than ten of the members of the coalition of the willing are actually a coalition of the unwilling - unwilling to reveal their names.

c. Coalition members - most of whose contributions to the war are negligible or even zero - constitute less than a quarter of the countries in the UN and contain less than 20% of the world's population.

Ok, I have a question and John Smith I'm not attacking you, but my question is posed directly to you and the 33000 peace loving, anti-american gov. people who signed the petition, not to support major american products during the war. Why stop there? If you are so anti-american GOV and want to boycott our products, I say show some conviction and go all out, try living the rest of your life not purchashing another American product and really show our gov how much you can inconvience them and the companies who contribute to our war machine.

Also, if yor feign in your endeavor the next time you pick up a coke can and you participate in an act that you so whole hartedly decidated a web site to, then that makes you a hypocrite!

it most certainly does not make me a hypocrite.

I do what i can. I have taken insurance off my car, and will not buy gas or oil for the duration of the war. I will not shop at walmart, or any other american stores.

but to totally boycott american products is pretty much impossible, due to the market saturation.

did you even read what i wrote?
