Considering Josh Gabriel has done some huge stuff like Wave3 & his remix of Dido - Thank You, I think the majority of stuff he has done with Dave Dresden is a bit of a let down, and is in most cases, lacking in decent overall production finese.

For example; the remix of One For The Road, is just simply boring progressive at a trance tempo. The production is quite shallow in my opinion. I don't understand the hype generated by it on this board. Is it suddenly because the trance crew has felt left out by the increase in popularity in progressive music, and along comes G&D who decide to make prog house for trance tempos, then suddenly they're the new trance gods? It is a curious concept, but I guess its much the same as the hype over Filterheadz late last year.

Nevermind, its just my opinion...

I dont know i think for the most part G & D are pretty solid, i like their productions not all of them but most of them. I however dont understand the hype over their Beautiful THings remix to me it doesnt sound fresh, also the samee thing with their Motorcycle tune. I find As The Rush Comes in rather boring and the vocals don tso much for me, I also agree with the Filterheadz comment. I have only found myself liking two of their productions the rest IMO were crap. Dont get me wrong here though I love G & D to the fullest its just i can see where you wuold say that, and i think it does come down to a matter of taste on this one. Also dont forget their EM blew A LOT OF PEOPLE AWAY, so a lot more people are focusing on them now.

well kudos to a godd strted topic

and your opinion is as good as the next mans...

i dont agree of course....but then again i wretch at anything ferry corsten puts out i wretched at dj cor finjman venus and i wretched and svenson and geilen beachbreeze...mind you the latter are well produced..they are formula trance..that really has no different sound tham the trance sound sound back in '97.

and that is my opinion

and why should the be classified as trance? gabriel himself was a house/progressive house producer and dresden adds his touch of dance background to teh songs they produce...giving them a unique style of progressive/G&D ..hehe trance.

personally i have loved all there songs...bar lament..didnt liek it too much...but there style is so different and alot of teh songs are not geared toward dancin and raving tehy are geared alot towards listening and chilling...and where i am from that counts over anything else...great production..solid listenability...and overall beautiful almost folk music trance.

but thats my opinio so who cares ...haha
cause that is what it all comes down to with music..either you like or you dont..but if alot of ppl here seem to like...then so be it...maybe that is a good thing
just thought i would say my two cents....

So true.. Their remixes of Bedrock - Emerald, Minimalistix - Into the Trees, The Roc Project - Never, and DJ Tiesto - Obsession are absolutely sick~!@~! As for G&D, they only get better and better every remix (Andain - Beautiful Things + Three Drives - Carrera 2)..

Yet another person listening to prog and expecting "energy" Prog is not about energy, it's about the journey the song takes you on, and G&D tunes definately take me and many others on a journey.

They don't particularly excite me, either. I like their basslines, but their tunes really don't have much else to offer. If I want atmosphere, there's plenty of better progressive out there.

i still dont like em adn there is no journey in any of their tracks, theyre shite.

And what the fuckin hell is the deal with the overhype of their mindcircuse remix. PLEASE LISTEN TO THE ORIGINAL FIRST!!! you will see there is fuck all difference. get Jay's sleepwalker mix if you want to hear something that isnt an upbeat of the original. the sleepwalker mix offers somethign totally different. NO G&D mixes offer anything that alternative. buy some synths and stop only using drum machines and effect pads to remix!!!

oh and BT is by far the best american producer.
