has nothing to do with this thread.

But you would know if you did some research, that Israelis ops are on the field in western Iraq to check for any Scud launchers.

I didn't know about that.

Many military specialists with insider info were saying this on tv and I read reports about it (israeli ops in iraq).

Syria's Assad: 'We will not wait' to be next U.S. target

SPECIAL TO WORLD TRIBUNE.COM
Friday, March 28, 2003
NICOSIA — Syria, alarmed by the impending collapse of its neighbor and ally, has called for suicide missions against U.S. forces in Iraq.

Syrian President Bashar Assad also called on Arab regimes to oppose the U.S.-led war against Iraq. He warned that Syria could be the next target of Washington.

Assad said in an interview with the Beirut-based A-Safir daily that Damascus would not wait until the United States attacks Syria, Middle East Newsline reported. He did not elaborate.

"We will not wait until we become the next target," Assad said.
The mufti of Syria, appointed by the regime, called on Muslims to launch suicide attacks on coalition forces in Iraq. The statement came amid concern expressed by the Syrian regime over the U.S. advance on Baghdad.

"I call on Muslims to use all means possible to thwart the aggression, including martyr operations against the hostile invaders," Sheik Ahmad Kaftaro, the mufti, said in a statement on Thursday. "This is the obligation of all Muslims."

Kaftaro said the obligation to fight coalition forces begins with Muslims in Iraq. He also called on Westerners to protest the participation of their governments in the war against Iraq.

Western intelligence sources said Syria has increased preparations of its military amid the war in Iraq. They said Assad has ordered accelerated production of the medium-range Scud C and D missiles, which have a range of 550 and 700 kilometers, respectively.

Assad said he expected an Israeli attack. He said Syria would remain under threat as long as Israel exists.

Hundreds of Hizbullah enroute to northern Iraq

SPECIAL TO WORLD TRIBUNE.COM
Friday, March 28, 2003
TEL AVIV — Hizbullah has joined the war against Iraq.

Israeli intelligence sources said hundreds of combatants from the Iranian-backed Hizbullah have crossed into Syria and plan to continue on to Iraq to fight coalition forces. The sources said the Hizbullah members have left with their personal weapons and are expected to arrive in northern Iraq by early next week.

The Hizbullah expedition was organized by the movement's secretary-general, Hassan Nasrallah, who ordered his fighters to deploy in the Shi'ite areas of Iraq. Nasrallah has sought to lead Iraq's Shi'ite majority amid the U.S.-led war in that country, according to Middle East Newsline.

The intelligence sources said the Hizbullah deployment in Iraq appears to be symbolic rather than operational. Israel's Channel 2 television reported on Thursday night that 2,500 Hizbullah members are heading for Iraq.
For its part, Lebanon has placed its military and security forces on full alert amid high-level consultations with Syria. Last week, Prime Minister Rafik Hariri met Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus.

The two leaders were said to have agreed to increase security and military measures along the southern border with Israel. Lebanon's military ordered anti-aircraft batteries to shoot at any intruding aircraft and increase ground patrols along the Israeli border.

Last week, Western diplomatic sources said the children of senior government officials and ministers were fleeing Baghdad for Jordan and Lebanon. The sources said Jordan closed its border at the urging of the United States. Lebanon, however, kept the border with Syria open and admitted Iraqi nationals.

I agree ... this is most certainly not good. The last thing that needs to happen is if this conflict becomes regional. Let's hope that Syria nor the US does anything stupid ...

Well it will be a domino effect, but not like how the US hawks described it as Regime change after the other.

It will be more like, a war after the other, this whole region is on the brink of total chaos and war.

Do you blame the Jews? I'm not implying that you do or don't, just want to understand where you stand.

I blame the integrists, be it Jewish, Chritians or Muslims.

But being a Christian, I can only comment on the Christian side (Bush administration). He proclaims being a good Christian and such, but let me tell you that he has nothing Christian, in his words and expressions. The way he acts, and the rest. Not Christian at all.

Why do you say that?
I would think otherwise; he talks as using words from the bible, says the almight "g-d bless america", and other small things here and there.

A muslim could say 'God bless America', same for a Jewish. And Jews use the old testament, as Christians.

Its not that, its the mentality. Just today, I was watching Collin Powell adressing AIPAC. And he goes about the terrorist attacks: "We will never forget", a real Christian wouldn't say that. Then going on about the war against Iraq. Bush's administration is using the "An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth." principle. Using violence against violence which is against Jesus principles. Anyways, it may sound cheezy but the whole mentality of the American govt has nothing to do with Christianism.

Anyways, its very hard for me to put in words, English being my 3rd language. In any case, I'm not a biblical expert but I can still differentiate what are Jesus principles from the rest.

Often people who are the biggest christians on words are taking actions that are exactly opposite to the spirit of christianity.

here we go:

Israel quietly playing key spy role

By KENNETH R. BAZINET
and THOMAS M. DeFRANK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON - From a spy satellite orbiting overhead to clandestine operations in western Iraq, Israel is a strong ally in the U.S.-led war against Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
But it's mostly a silent partnership because the Bush administration doesn't want to advertise Israel's help, fearing a backlash among Arab nations - particularly key allies like Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Behind the scenes, however, the Israelis are heavily engaged. Their sophisticated Amos 4 satellite routinely beams data to U.S. intelligence, and Israeli agents in Baghdad have provided extremely sensitive intelligence, sources told the Daily News.

Israel has been particularly aggressive in the desert of western Iraq, where its Sayeret Matkal commando force, in tandem with U.S. and Australian special forces, has run covert operations hunting for Scud missile launch sites.

An Arab intelligence official with details of the mission told The News the Israelis went in when satellite technology failed.

Iraq fired 39 Scuds at Israel in the 1991 Persian Gulf War. Since then, Iraq has developed versions of the surface-to-surface missile with longer range. This week, a U.S. Central Command spokesman confirmed the new Scuds, which are harder to ferret out because they can be hidden deeper in Iraq.

An Israeli official said there were still fears of a Scud attack, "no matter how low the probability. ... The military and civilian population is still on high alert."
