GREAT vocal tracks are rare in my opinion and Dj's should only remix or produce a vocal track if it's going to be phenomenal. It seems as if they all put vocals in tracks now, just for the hell of it. And most of it just ain't trance!

I guess Tiesto and the rest are maturing, but part of the appeal of trance for me was the melodies and bass and unique uplifting sounds. Trance doesn't NEED vocals...it's already genius without them!

Melody is the main element of Trance-music, so vocals are useless in my opinion. Sometimes I see people posting the word Hard-Trance, how can Trance be associated with Hard. Trance is build on melodie and uplifting sounds.

I agree about the remixing-part in your post. That's why I adore Laurent Veronnez. If he's remixing a vocal-track, for 99% I'm sure he's going to make an instrumental remix or he reduces the vocals to a very minimum (Andain - Summer calling for instance).

Vocals are good in a track like In My Memory or U Shine but the majority of trance tunes should be non vocal. Of course, this is my opinion (and I'm sure some of you share it) but I long for the days of pure instrumental tracks like Open Your Eyes (original), Viola remix by Armin, Voyage by Yahel, etc etc.

I guess that's why I can't wait for My Religion and Avalon.

Quit living in the past! It's 2003 and trance is changing.

I mentioned some time ago that 2003 will probably be a year of non-english/non-lyrical vocal trance, of the kind found in The Third Earth. Seems to be holding true so far, and I myself hope the trend will continue.

That aside, who could possibly not like The Third Earth? It's my top track of 2003 so far, and seems to be the same for many others. Priceless work that's not too much, not too little. In my opinion trance has been getting a bit too "busy" and complicated lately in sound. The Third Earth brings back a bit of simplicity and clarity.
