Nice trip down memory lane! 2007 was big game changing year in LA dance music.
Prior to that new years (2006), Giant moved from Avalon to the newly renovated Vanguard. They were also working with Insomniac and were booking some of the biggest talent for their shows.
Spundae announced that we were leaving Circus to work with Avalon. Instead of trying to compete (spend a lot of money) for dj bookings, the focus was on the emerging sounds that was coming out with house, electro and techno.
I believe Monday Night Social also moved from Las Palmas to Nacional. It became the meeting spot for many of us clubbers to wind down from the crazy weekend.
Dance music (especially the electro wave coming out of Europe) garnered attention from many of the smaller (exclusive) clubs. DJs started playing electro instead of the traditional to 40 club songs (hop hop, pop, etc). It's around this time that DJ AM and Steve Aoki (both playing at club LAX) transitioned to this sound. You could say this ultimately ended the underground scene that we all grew up with (personal opinion).
Anyways... that video brought back a lot memories. Thank you for sharing.
