Some good songs there! However I think if anyone (in general) wants get noticed with your promo Cds you might wanna be somewhat more creative with tracks. Anyone can pump out Tiesto, Van Dyk, Signum, Armin, Pulser, Solar Stone and G&D (Motorcycle). I mean 99.9% of mixes had Pulser - My Religion in it. :P

I think promoters are looking for someone who uses tracks that aren't famous, but are "golden tunage" and shows good knowledge of music and flows of mixes, rather then your beatmatching. Music knowledge will ALWAYS outweight mixing skills. Then... once you get the gig/job you can hammer tunes that will make the crowd go nuts!

Just my 2 cents.

i'll write u a check for any amount if u can find a promoter in perth who knows those tunes

as mentioned above, the purpose of the mix was for a promo cd.. now to me when i go to make a promo cd i want it to be the best cd which defines my style, tune selection and skills.. therefore obviously im going to include the tunes which i love at the time of recording
whenever i play out however i do infact mix it up.

the tunes are popular for a reason... i personally love them, therefore i play them.. i dont see why i would want to stray from playing the tunes i want just so i can be more 'original'. when i find a tune i like, whether its been caned by all the big names or not i'll get it and play it.

Honestly I think it goes the other way....put the hits (with a few personal favs) on your CD...then once you get gigs...slowly build a following...then you hammer what u like and hopefully it works with the crowd...

Soundscapes and Global Undergroundesque promo cds are stupid. They are made for listening to, not dancing to. IMO you should aim to reflect what you'd play on a dancefloor, into a cd.

I totally agree with you there man, but like I said everyone will have the same or similar cd as you, with same tracklists, and its not going to make you stand out or sound different in anyway.

I know what I'm talking about becuase one of my friends is a promoter for few bars and gigs in Brisbane and had gigs on Triple J radio and worked with Groove Armanda and helped in promoting alot of other gigs. When he receives promo/demo CDs he checks the tracklist first and if its the same as all the other ones it finds the bin before it finds the cd player

I know some promoters just know DJ Sammy and Cosmic Gate, but some know more then you think they do
