it sucks when dj's are booked for saturdays. that's when you have a huge mix of what kinda people are in the crowd, hence why it was lame. go on thursdays, or go to vinyl...their atmosphere is way better.
carriegsxr6: as far as every room at the church being VIP, that's not even close to being right. there's a VIP room at the top of the stairs at the back of the club, but other than that there's nothing. unless, for some weird reason, the church made more VIP rooms just cuz tiesto was there....never heard of anything like that happening, though. |
Tiesto was at Vinyl and I know what she means about the VIP situation. I don't mind it, but there are VIP areas everywhere. I was outside flyering from about 1:30 on and he was actually playing some pretty sweet tracks. I was surprised.
Charles Feelgood ripped it up at Vinyl on Saturday. Reminded me of a Hernan set. Very nasty and dark and driving.

I'm not a big Tiesto fan anymore, but the last few tracks in his set were sounding pretty good (granted I heard them from outside, but they came through pretty well). At least it wasn't his oversynthed Traffic sounding tracks that he's been playing for the last couple of years. |
Don't everyone jump on me for being a noob here... but I agree on the music... the last 45 minutes or so were pretty sick, and Tiesto had the crowd on a string. Early in his set he dropped some good tracks and progressions, but there was about an hour where he tapered off with some of the pop crap that has filled up so many of his recent CD releases.
I didn't this break in the middle too much, as the crowd was so packed in to the arena -- been going to Vinyl for a long time and never seen this many people -- dancing wasn't an option.
Yeah, it would have been nice to see a 4-hour progression set and yeah, it would have been better if the crowd weren't as massive and yeah, it would have been nice to have a crowd that was less responsive to the pop and more responsive to smooth transitions and strong progressions... but hard to really complain about a decent Tiesto set at a Denver club for $20. (especially after I paid $75 a week earlier for Tiesto and Deep Dish at Ice in Vegas)
