i do not know why people complain so much, it is impossible for the dj to satisfy people's tastes every time he takes the turntables. in my opinion this set was amazing, just becasue i like the trancier side of pvd; but it is funnt how some people complain that he was venturing to much into the tech trance space and they started complaining where was the trancier side of him, now its the contrary he plays more trancier and people complain becasue he is not playing hard enough. i laso believe that is impossible to judge a set from jus tlistening to it on the radio as you can not see the interaction with the crowd, as the party evolves we might think by listetning in the radio that certain song does not fit with ther est of the set, but maybe live it makes sense because he want either to lift the crowd or bringing down, etc. the other thing is hat people complain he plays the same records over and over, well first of all it is impossible for a dj who plays that much to come up with a fresh set every month, and for people who expect that, i believe the only thing that is going to come out of that is a shitier set as he will try to buy more recrods that will not be as quality as others. i think it is tough to come with a completely fresh set every month or so becasue dj are very selective with theri music and if they dont find some ting they like they do not play it, and this is especially tough in trance as it is the genre where the most crap gets released day after day.

You seem to have missed the point by a long shot. There is no problem with him incorporating trance into his sets, it's something that he has always done. But the type of bullshit 'fluffy' trance witnessed here is something that he has always been against, so it makes no sense him playing it. It is not what he is about, and for someone who has been following his sound for a very long time this type of crap is very annoying and somewhat hipocritical to hear. Especially in Berlin, a city where he is renowned for playing a more harder edged and 'dirty' set for the bpm+ hungry Germans.
And of course you don't need to have been there to know whether or not you would have liked it. I can tell straight off the bat from just looking at that tracklist that I would have been bored off my tits, because I know exactly what music I like and this is not it. And onto the point about repeated playlists; I completely agree with you.
Finally, paragraphs.. Use them, ffs.

well, you should never make that fault and judge a DJ-Set from at home. When you don't now the reaction of the crowd it doesnt make any sense to say the DJ should have played differently.
but there's also no reason why one shouldnt have an opinion.
the trackselection of this set was quite strange and strange for PvDs-standards too. the first was really good. a lack of flow in the others.
and too trancy in my opinion.
but thats a question of taste,
...as everything is.
the frankfurt set was brilliant instead!!!!!!!!

ok, some of the trance tracks he played in this set were a little fluffy but i my opinion the melodies were good and it was nothing cheesy. the other thing why i think it was tought to build a set is becasue these guys played each 1:30 sets. i think overall that was a bad format for the party especially when both of their styles are different.
for example after paul ended with connected although he was toning it down for westban it is very guy for westbam to follow up and thats why he basically turned donw the volume and started his set. with this format i think it was very tough for them to build a flow in thier set and whatever they had going towards the end of each set was completely erased when the other guy strated playing as it was a very radical change in styles. I mean i know that paul probably wated to get harder but he cant just begin his set with a banging tune, everybody would be like wtf. then if the problem with a 1:30 hour time slot is that if he tries to bang it some people will think some tunes will be out sync with the set as he will strat trancey and shift to a more techie style and then bakc down to set it up for westbam. i think it was tough as he did not want to finish with a hard track and leave like westban like ok what the hell do i do know.
For me it was obvious in thier sets that they had in mind each other and they tried to blend somewhat the ne dof their sets to the beginning of the other's. and as for the previous point about strating trance and shifting techi in a shor period of time it is like trying to build a 6 hour set in 1:30, in other words he would think about a set in ny for example and just try to put three songs from each point in his set into 1:30 hours and thas why some people might think that there is no flow in theset.
Finally, what was that remix of say hello he played that was extrememly mint remix, too bad he made the transition right when the big buildup was about to start. hope he comes out with the two remixes out, this one and the one from frankfurt last week as one of them is extrmely enjoyable a dn trancey and the one from frankfurt is more for peak time and faster pace. and after all both remixes have excellent elelements, th eone from frankfurt has the old school acid bass line to it and in this ones he uses the piano similar to his origin for an angel and the melody is just amazing. both remixes reminded of paul's old school production which i hope he keeps it up.
cheers
