Burning Reflections
Hot sun and dry leaves. The smell of roses.
August burning away the freedom that only summer offers.
Fleeting tendrils of a once calm breeze
now storm through the trees
their leaves whisper the end is near
and.....one by one...
lose their grip, floating away
unsettled.
Beneath the roses' heavy scent
are the pungent odors of colors to come
masking the serenity of green
the vibrant green that once offered peace

Red, yellow, brown, orange
