by saying "it incorporates warcraft lore and history" i meant that it has an epic storyline. infact, one that crosses multiple games and genres.
i didnt say that RPGs are any game that u play a "role" in, i was only making a point that there is no differece btw those (role playing) games and wow.
are u aware there are actual ROLE PLAYING only servers for WoW?
have u actually played a WoW char for more than 20 levels? tbh i dont think u have. tell me one difference btw any of the RPG titles i previously mentioned and wow (other than online factor)
no choices in wow? hahahah
another reason why the aforementioned games (inc. WoW) are role playing is the dice/chance system as a basis for just about everything in the game just like every original RPG ever made (ie NOT computer games)
a quick search determined that several leading games sites agree with me so whatever.
no need to be sorry

waxology, cod1 mp was pretty cool and fun but for a purely competitive view dod was superior imo. also had humourists like grunt running around who always provided a few laughs on forums and such
and yeah gonna have to give aoe3 multi a hit out as alot of games really come into their own when playing multi in comparison to single player

first, ill concede that i was unaware of the roleplaying only servers, but having not seen them in action i cant make a judgement. perhaps, in that respect, WoW is a roleplaying game, but itd take more than your say-so to convince me.

differences- your character does not make choices that affect any greater story arc- oooh, kill onxyia the dragon, oh and lets go back and do it again next week. and the next! so we can get all the loot that we want. thats dungeon hacking, not roleplaying. or you enter a PvP game and do it to other players. again, thats not roleplaying. there are no real consequences for any of your actions in the gaming world. im not saying WoW is a bad game or anything, just that its not an RPG in the traditional sense. its an action adventure with RPG elements (if im feeling generous). the world doesnt change on your actions, everything is reset so other players can go and play thru it. im sorry, that aint roleplaying.

i couldnt give a fuck if the game sites label it anything, go check IGN and Deus Ex is listed under one of the RPG genres, when its a fucking FPS.

oh, and using dice means absolutely nothing im afraid. would you like to come round and roleplay monopoly with me?

ok i agree that ur choices cant alter the world or story but u cant in most RPGs i have played including nwn, oblivion, baldurs gate (if i remember correctly) and others. they all pretty much follow a set story line which u follow out through tasks/events. exactly like wow.
anyway we'll just agree to disagree
again, no need to be sorry

You don't need much more then dialup, certainly not 24Mb/s for it tho :P

The round trip delay on another user hosting the server is potentially twice as long as if it's hosted on a proper server that you both connect to as peers.

And generally, these days, ISP's and/or the company (WoW/Second Life), own the servers....sif end users should host servers......they're not servers, they're users......

Spore = best game evar, might even get me in for more then a week =)
