Not everybody has to finish high school. If you want to become a tradey, often it's better to drop out early and start your apprenticeship around 16. Stop being so God damn narrow minded.

I disagree with tricia & sara. Mate of mine in school, he was never any good at anything academic, always good at sports and woodwork. He left school at 16 when we all finished and went to college, did some courses and became a qualified plumber. He now earns more than pretty much anyone from our agegroup apart from a couple who have big city jobs in london.

For some people it isn't the "easiest steps of their adolescence". Personally, I struggled through high school (insert "you're stupid" comments here), but with my father dying, and then moving out on my own and working full time while finishing my last year, I almost didn't make it.

Life can make things difficult for some people, not to mention that some people simply have a harder time learning the conventional way than others.

On the other hand, there are also some people who are just simply lazy. That, I have difficulties understanding.

precisely. Due to illness & a death in the family, I made a mess of my final couple of years. I still did my exams and scored grades from exams only that some people did with 2 years coursework at 30-65% of the final grade. It might be 10 years on now but I want to goto university and do something in life, whereas some found school easy & have nothing to show for it and never will through lazyness.

How is that narrow minded? Because it's not.

Even if you want to do an apprenticeship is it really going to kill you or take THAT much time to take those 2 more years and finish high school? Really? It's laziness to not finish regardless what you want to do after high school is done.

Some people only do 3 years, say fuck it and then go back and do that GED thing. At least they finished at some point. A good friend of mine struggled hard core to the point of wanting to say fuck it. Bad grades, bad attendance, just a general bad attitude overall. She DID finish and now has her bar exam next year with straight A's. All she needed was a push. All anyone really needs is a push. You CAN do it and you should.

I don't think that crazy life circumstances is an excuse to not finish your education, or that because of it, it's ok if you quit something. People are always going to die, and you're always going to get sick. If you get that mentality of "Oh, someone died and now I just don't want to do anything and quit", you never become an adult and handle a situation without letting it wreck your life. I'm not saying that death isn't terrible, but it is constantly all around us. Are you going to quit your job because someone died? You take time to grieve, and then get right back into the swing of things.

I should add that if you don't want to finish high school you might as well just quit after elementary school is done. Really no point to waste your time and money if you're not going to tough it out.
