BEIJING, Aug 20 (Reuters) - Churandy Martina of Netherlands Antilles and Wallace Spearmon of the United States were disqualified after finishing second and third in the Olympic 200 metres final on Wednesday.
Spearmon was the first to be ruled out and Martina followed him, both for stepping out of their lanes on the turn as they chased eventual winner Usain Bolt.
The decisions moved defending champion Shawn Crawford of the U.S. from fourth to second and compatriot Walter Dix took third to match his bronze in the 100m final.
"It feels kind of weird, it feels like a charity case," Crawford told reporters. "It's horrible, it is heart-breaking and I feel his (Spearmon's) pain right now. I hope Usain (Bolt) stepped out too because... that's a gold medal for me."
Spearmon was clearly unhappy.
"It's got to be three steps," he said.
Jamaica's Bolt won the event in world record time of 19.30 seconds, bettering Michael Johnson's 12-year-old mark.
After the disqualifications, Bolt's margin of victory increased to over half of a second, an almost unheard of figure in sprinting events.

what lol?
I just agreed with you about Chinese guy, but where did I say the Canadian should have won?

But you can't blame anyone else but yourself when you know going into the competition that those are the rules!

Also, another thing with the diving, they commentators "well the diver was slightly off there, but since the judges are sitting to the side of the swimmers, they aren't able to see that deduction..."
That is considered fair judging??? How is that even possible for an olympic event. A diver will be able to score better than what they should've just because they judges are sitting in an appropriate position?? (it's across the board, not just for a specific diver).
Dude you're listening to Anne Monimy (sp?) and her "homer" colour commentary. I've pretty much watched every single diving competition and I have to say she is annoying as hell. When a canadian diver misses a dive she says "Well that was a very good dive for Alexander, considering its not his strongest dive and he should get some good marks from the judges". When a chinese diver goes and they went slightly off on their entry she will say "Well he went over vertical a bit but there was little splash because he is smaller than Alexander. Also they don't have instant reply like we do so they may have missed the slight error."
She is fucking horrible. Alexander deserved the silver medal. There is no judging scandal in diving. Every winner deserved to win. The chinese divers are in a class of heir own.

What you say does make sense about the commentating...just saying what they were saying and thought there was some validity too it! But I do agree with you that Chinese are in a league of their own. It's unreal how well they do in diving and how they end up 40-60 points higher then the silver medal position!
So in the Men's 200M, apparently the guy who won Silver was disqualified as well! So the Silver and Bronze winners were both disqualifed...Craziness! So Dix ended up with a Bronze!
PS. Women's Beach Volleyball is on right now...in the Rain!! dear god!!

Also, in comparison to population.. not so bad either.
141,377,752 people in Russia - 42 medals
33,390,141 people in Canada - 13 medals
301,139,947 people in the USA - 79 medals
1,321,851,888 people in China - 76 medals
Just a thought...
21,370,000 people in Australia - 36 medals

haha...good job for Australia!
However, to make things fair. The best thing to do would be to add up the Summer AND Winter Olympic game medals.
If you combine our average for both Olympics, we roughly have around 35-40 medals.
Still though, that is inferior to the medals of Australia based on a population perspective! lol

uh oh...controversy time!
Apparently 4 Horses have tested positive for a drug called capsaicin!
Some old Canadian Olympian in Horsing was saying that usually it is used as a brace, however she thinks that the horses were wearing to increase the sensitivity of their legs so that they would be more careful not to hit any railings!
Norway might lose their bronze in the team jumping, but are still pending the results of another test.
But this is good news for us as Eric Lamaze now moves into a tie for First in the Individual Jumping going into the Final round! Should be exciting to watch! It all starts at 10:10am!
