Move over Carey Price, hellooooooo Jeff Drouins-Deslauriers
The kid made some great saves against the Blueshirts at MSG last night. Obviously it's a bit of a stretch to compare him with Price, but it's nice to have a young talent on the Oilers roster who looks like he'll be capable of stepping into the starting goalie role in the not too distant future
And Ales Hemsky just keeps on pulling those highlight-reel goals out of the bag, what a talent

let us not forget 20 year old Steve Mason for the Bluejackets...he stole them some games this week and won the second star in this week's player of the week. He should push Pascal Leclaire to be better through competition.
Carey was very ordinary against the Leafs, but had absolutely no defence and had not played in a week. I have a feeling he will be giving the Sens fits tonight, because in the media he was really pissed off. I can't wait for tonight
The amount of young talent playing in the NHL at the moment is quite incredible. I've been a hockey fan since '94, and don't think I can recall such an exciting group of youngsters breaking through into the league in that time. Combine that with the lock-out year and it's really rejuvenated the hockey scene in my opinion

you can thank the salary cap and imposing a maximum salary that rookies can make for this.

there are a few faults with the system, but it has made the nhl more competitive.
I totally agree.
And as long as guys like Jeff Finger continue to earn $14m over 4 years , I don't foresee too many players vetoing a renewal of the current CBA lol.

The habs played their first full 60 minutes of the season last night. Total pwnage on every front, and Carey played with fire in the belly. Maxim Lapierre is becoming one of my favourite hockey players. He does not get too many points, but on the 4th line he creates all kinds of trouble without yapping.
Sorry Dubam, but i think Jarkko Ruutu is the league's biggest pussy. A dirty player that is scared to fight. If he keeps playing the way he is someone is going to end up killing him. He kept running back to the Ottawa bench, because Guy Carboneau would put Laraque on no matter who was on the ice. He is afraid to be "tough" with anyone other than smaller guys.
also, what a great comeback from the PENS last night, this is the Red Wings the beat. Maybe this is the game that puts their heads back in it. Detroit is going to need better goaltending if they want to win the cup again. They won't do it with Osgood, even if he has won it before.
edit: watch Koivu's pass on the first goal. Jesus he thinks he is Joe Montana...what a nice play short handed.
