So if female genital mutilation was done in a clean and sterile environment, akin to the one of circumcisions, you would then defend that as well? Since it's the parents' decision?

I think it's pretty disingenuious to try and put the two forms of circumcision on the same level. Female circumcision generally results in a near total absence of sensation; whereas, most men who have been circumcised report an entirely acceptable level of sensation. Is it less then the sensation felt by uncircumsised men... probably; however, if it's still sufficient as to be pleasurable and these men know nothing else then it's really inconsequential.

Thats the same argument I used for why it doesn't matter if all of humanity were to disappear. We'd all be dead, so it wouldn't matter, you wouldn't know the difference and you wouldn't have anyone else knowing the difference!

not really the same, as a sudden absence of humanity would have broader effects then just to the now non-existant humans. A better argument would be if cars had never been made with stereos... we'd still be able to drive as necessary but the experience would be somewhat lessend by the absence of auditory entertainment; however, we would be entirely unaware that the experience could be marginally better.

and what eddie said. Is female circumcision practiced in medical offices or hospitals in the developing world?
