Well that IS your opinion.
Some do it because they think it looks good, it doesn't, but others I imagine do it as a challenge.
No it isn't my opinion. It is simply the nature of warfare and combat. You need just as much endurance as you need strength or you will tire and be easily finished off.

I didn't know we were talking about warfare
Obviously there is a certain amount of endurance in what real weight lifters do. Otherwise they would never build much defined muscle and would just look big in general instead of muscly.

Hahaha, when I got back from Miami that was the FIRST thing I ate. Missed my cheat day while I was down there so I gorged myself when I got back.

lol, I'm not into warfare or combat...dunno where the hell that is coming from, but I would say most warriors are strong and muscular, and not looking like a marathon runner I'm far from being a meathead, as well. I'm 165lbs @ 5-10, and I have a nice noticeable neck

Not a marathon runner but 10 mile runs at 7 minutes per mile does take some cardio training. And that is where I need to be.

running is a good sport (activity), a great body workout aswell; and a habit you will be able to keep until you're old. Running does wonders for your heart and head; it's addictive, exhaustive and very underrated.

Just gotta be careful with running. My dad ran on a track for football practice for 3 years and his shins are still shit.
Gotta pick a good environment, get a decent pair of shoes and you're off.

lay flat on the ground and do leg lifts. Lift them up around a foot or so (or 30cm) is all u need and bring them to where they almost touch the ground, then back up. Then do stomach crunches or a combination of leg lifts and stomach crunches.
