Yikes...

The Royals. Who, before this series, had the same record as the '62 Mets this far into the season.

I always said it about Pavano. He's not that good. I always said Clement was better. Pavano had one good year and most SABR guys attribute it to luck. He had nearly identical peripheral stats in 2003 and 2004, yet his ERA was completely different. Usually that's a tell tale sign of luck.

Torn ligament in my left elbow on a 0-2 slider that i let my palm get under the ball snapping a ligament on the backside of my elbow. I lost temporary use of my left forearm which meant i couldn't squeeze a baseball or grip a bat.

I rehabbed for 4 months and it never was the same. I played d2 in college and hung up the glove and cleats my 2nd year in college. Something just wasn't right ever since that injury. My curve ball never snapped off the table like it use to. My fastball barely reached 85. I was throwing in 87 consistently about 50-70 pitches into a game. 87 mph for a 5'5" asian kid with a left hand curveball that would rip you a new asshole was my forte. I had a killer change up which avg around 80mph from a lefty a change usually drops down and away to a right hand batter. and avg 7mph slower than my heat. the slider which now is a cutter with less pop, was my strike out pitch.

damn everytime i hear baseball america i fall back into another life time when i had scouts clocking my delivery time from behind the fence. I played with the best of them - Rudy Lugo, Jason Patterson, Ryan Dolan, lols sorry for such a long memory post but baseball was what i breathed ate and slept. i love this game!

Brian waxing poetical...

Sorry to hear that though, man. But at least you still dig baseball. My friend was huge into baseball... then he didn't make the Varsity team in HS. Never watched a game since...

On a lighter note... another ho-hum performance by Pedro Martinez.

8.0 5 1 1 0 9

ERA down to 2.62
Dude's allowed 44 hits and a ludicrously low 12 BB's in 79 innings, along with K'ing 92.

Yowzers! Not to mention all the fun he's been having out there. Cameron made a RIDICULOUS (read: lucky) catch in RF today and Pedro started bowing to him on the mound. He got his first hit of the year on an excuse me swing that JUST stayed fair, looked in the dugout and shrugged his shoulders like "I'll take it..." Dude's been awesome. I love every second of him being here.

On to Minnesota...
Mussina gave up 2 home runs in 5 innings, giving up the 3-0 lead that the Yanks got early
Not quite the pitching performance that was needed

I love when the Mets gain a half game in the standings without even playing a game. Yay Pittsburgh! Yay Washington! The Mets are now 1 game back and playing a series against the Giants who have lost 7 in a row. Hopfeully they take at least 2 of 3.

Whoa. Mets win again. 6 out of 8. As of now, a half game out of first. Let's see what happens with the Marls and Brizaves tonight.

too bad I can't make the doubleheader, but I was at the game today - great weather, excellent pitching by Glavine, and very good play all around.
Mets got 4 out of their 5 runs as results of bunts - first by Beltran to set up the big rally, and later on by Reyes to tack on another run.
