No matter when you do cardio, and if you have anything in your stomach, does not change the fact it will take approximately 20 minutes of moderate cardio before you even BEGIN to burn fat storage. Before that, look at it as only calories being consumed. Some will say when doing cardio on an empty stomach your body will use muscle as energy since your body is depleted of carbohydrates.
I saw the best results on an empty stomach, but if you're looking to put on muscle mass it could be detrimental in the long run. If you're just looking to lose weight and get conditioned, go on an empty stomach and do not eat until one hour after doing cardio. Or you can take a protein shake prior to cardio.
The way I look at it now is, after doing cardio I can have another meal for the day, since all I basically burned was calories. |
ye but what about the HIIT routine, it is done in 10 - 30 minutes and has found to be very effective for fat loss?
