I know what a counter arguement is, but when you say 'McProg' follows a formular, doesn't everything else as well. All the diff is is that they use different sounds. I don't think it's fair that you say it's formulaic.

That's the bottom line here. Trance by nature is predictable because it follows the same basic formula. That's why progressive house is different: it has no real pattern, it's just a state of abstract expression (at least true progressive is).

hm. never thought about it like that.. I still think prog house, as with any genre of almost any music, has at least somewhat of a pattern that one could reasonably predict though. maybe I've been listening to the wrong type of prog house or something.

If you don't like McProg, that's fine, because I don't like it either.

I still think this discussion is useless. People have different tastes, and you need to respect that.

There's is no need to flame on other people's musical preference, just because you don't like it. If you don't like McProg, great. Happy you. If another person likes McProg, happy other person.

Telling people that McProg sucks because it is formulaic and predictable is not the way to go if you ask me. Like Omega_Blue said (and I quote): "...saying McProg is shit because they follow the same pattern or formula is a little harsh".

Pretty much every trance song follows the same pattern or formula. Think about ASOT-stuff. It's all the same.

I think McProg sucks too, but I don't think it is necessary to start a whole thread about it. You can expect people getting mad at you for saying that McProg sucks, but don't expect them to agree with you.

Like I said before: People have different tastes. Respect that, or grow up .

Atleast this thread has brung some good humour and inspiration. I know for myself that i am going to pay more attention to 'real' prog. Branch out of the trance genre and finally get to know others. Like Mike said, I'll stand and agree to disagree, this thread needs to go to rest, it's ended up going nowhere.
