First of all great race by schumi today, and a massiv leep in both championship titles so couldnt be more pleased with the result. I went absolutely beserk seeing Alonso blowing up that engine . Just a shame that Massa had to come in for an extra stop after that incident, but i can live with that, and so can Ferrari i bet.

And one more thing, doesnt matter if he was allready punished after qualifying by the stewards or not, when Alonso cut that chicane he should've been penalized for not letting Heidfeld i believe it was through, i dont care if he was allready a few car lengths behind. He would have never been able to make that move hadnt he brake that late.

Anyway back to the big news, the bad news in a way. Would've love to have seen schumacher continue for at least one more year, it all so sudden now, a fucked upyear last season and now knowing that these last 3 races will be the last ones to ever see him. I've never even seem him live ffs . I only hope that he can end in style like he earns to do, like Everts did. And what about all those records schumi has

I can honestly say that for me F1 will only be half as much fun next year and every year after that. Bye bye legend, hope you change ur mind (and he better not be going racing in DTM like hakkinen )

Just so depressed now with the news. I was over the moon at the race result but the constant speculation over Schumi's future was putting a damper on it. Once the press conference came along I shed some tears and said goodbye to one of my first heros I felt like I was a little kid again and your hero leaves you. Really sad day for me. Much respect for Schumi for doing what he has done for F1, Ferrari, and life. I hope he can go out on top here and I do hope that Montezelmo wasnt the mastermind behind this.

Forza Shumi!

Like they said on ITV, you had the impression that di Montezemelo was more eager to hug schumi than the other way around...

Beh, shame he'll leave After 10yrs (for me that is) of F1 with schumi it's gonna be very dull now. Certainly wont be missing a nanosecond of the last 3 qualies and races.

that is because he feels guilty IMO. I wont go into it as I dont want to believe he was forced out. Ill wait for his autobiography then judge.

I don't think that Schu was forced out, but I think that Kimi was signed against his wishes and he didn't want to race against a non-number 2 driver. He demands a subordinate, a wing man, a rear gunner.

He doesn't want a Prost vs. Senna rivalry within his own team.

Never has, never will.

Arguably, that's what allowed his to be the champion he was. he had full resources and the full focus of the team behind him. both at Benetton and Ferrari.

I disagree I think Montezelmo who has been critcised in the press for being too much of Schumi/Todt and crew's slave then making his own decisions. The rumour that most of the Italian press reported was that Kimi was signed by Luca to proove a point to Michael about who runs Ferrari.

As many Italians know treatment like this will backfire just because we are superstitous people and most have treated Michael as a son and if this is true then they will turn on Monte.

Also on the race much props to Kubica well done!

I agree in part. I think the Kimi deal was done between Kimi and Luca, with Luca figuring he could talk the rest into accepting it.

I don't think that worked, but the timing was such that Schu might have been contempating retirement anyways. This just helped his decision. After Alonso was signed at McLaren, the only seat left would have been Renault and Flavio had been pretty critical of Schu in recent years even after their early success together.

Like I said, Schu hasn't ever had an equal teammate. Kimi would have changed that.

Besides, he's had a stellar career so why not hang 'em up now and focus your great competitive spirit on another avenue?

There is no reason why he needs a stellar teamate in the first place so your argument is dead there if that was a argument lol

Also Ferrari is setup like this Schumacher, Todt & Co. and then there is Luca. Everyone knows Luca doesnt control shit and this move IMO was him just flexing his muscle. Im sure he will not say it but I think Schumi was going for 100 wins and would've raced next year.

Have you heard what JT and RB will do after this year? Sure hope they will stay, but for all I heard they were bound to quit the moment schumi did

Jean Todt will leave/retire

and Ross will most likely take over Jean's posistion unless damage has been done to him and he will take leave as well

I thought Todt had signed an extension for next year? He has good history with the Finns racing for him. He ran the Peugeot Group B rally team in the 80's with a couple Finns driving for him then (Kankonnen, maybe Toivanen before he went to Lancia?).

There's a good interview with Brawn here:

http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=37336

quote:
Brawn’s own future with the team remains unclear with speculation suggesting that the Englishman will take a year’s sabbatical – which now seems all the more likely with the confirmation of Schumacher’s exit.

Looks like Brawn might not be there next year, though I'm sure he'll be involved somehow. The Scuderria has been running full-tilt for the last 10 years, and I think everyone might be feeling a bit tired. Can't blame Brawn for wanting to take some time off.

I hope Todt stays on for next year, and then takes over from Max Mosely after that. The FIA needs a racer/team principle at the helm, and not a businessman. Sure, Bernie used to own/run the Brabham F1 team, but that was back in the late 70's.
