My point is that devoting a day to thrashing your body with weights, and then thrashing it with cardio another day is more effective. You can also masturbate with bubble gum too, but then you have bubble gum in your pubes.
Not really a good analogy, but im just sayin there are more effective ways to do it with better results. For a trim down goal, a day of walks jogs and hikes is going to be too tiring after a hard work out session.
I can run sub 6 minute miles (not that hard but still shows a certain level of athleticism) and I ran 6 back to back 7 mins once. I can rock climb for hours and hours on some of the hardest climbs.
but I cant do shit after I go to the gym I tried to go rock climbing yesterday after hitting it hard, and I couldnt.
Running isnt as much fun...I guess it depends on how hard you work out in the gym. Lots of times if I get back from the gym and eat something I pass out for an hour because my body shuts down hehe.
Just me though. I wouldnt be surprised if some peoples bodies could handle it. But I think at the intensity levels I like to operate at, it would be foolish and increase the risk of injury.

well that's your body, other bodies can tolerate it. and a perfectly good weights workout can be done in under an hour and a perfectly good cardio session can be done in under an hour too,
Just wanted to reiterate the beginning of that last post
"My point is that devoting a day to thrashing your body with weights, and then thrashing it with cardio another day is more effective."
I am not doubting anyones ability to physically go and do both the same day, I am doubting the veracity of the idea that it is the ultimate way to do it. From my knowledge of their goals a day where they hit the elliptical trainer and stairmachines and stuff for a couple hours and then a day where they do high sets high reps for an hour or so as well would be better energy spent on their parts.
If you are doing strength training and maxing weights you can do other stuff during the day. If you work out your chest, back, and legs out till failure over the course of an hour and a half, Id say just go home and have a good meal and let yourself heal.
Ive fluctuated between (due to workouts and diets) between 7 and 15% body fats. The way I lost (and am currently losing) fat% the fastest was with seperate days for seperate things method. Im hitting an 8% right now (we have a bod pod at our gym).

yes. Trust me, few things I like more than getting pumped and then running down to the beach and having cars full of girls whistle and hoot to me

ok, just to prove you wrong, check out this guys journal, he's something like 195lbs <5% body fat and does weights and cardio on the same day. i know it's big but reading the last few pages should show you how he's doing it

My only thing would be that these girls haven't really ever done any training before. Their bodies don't have the mechanisms in place for rapid recovery and the cardio system probably isn't able to cope with supplying their bodies with what they need for that much activity.
Time constraints also play a role in all this
