You're right but I think the best way to deal with it would be as follows.

If someone starts a thread " Is trance dead ", a mod would close it and kindly point the person to the stickied thread.

Simple as that.

Take a look at the Dj Booth subforum and that's how it works in a sense. If someone brings up a question that has been asked a million times they kindly get told to go into the stickied thread.
There has been an ongoing Vinyl vs Cd debate thread and I think it's been going pretty good over the years.

But you bring up a very good point, and i'd tend to maybe agree with you more than myself now... (am i betraying myself? )

I totally understood what you meant and I'm not saying it was a bad idea unfortunately when put into application it would be of little to no use because it's all about the Music Discussion and C0R

no offense but i believe in freedom of speech, this practise could discourage newbies from posting at all,

this is a massive forum, it's just a thing you have to live with,

trance is dead threads usually disappear really quickly if you ignore them, i personally never post in any of them,

further to this the search engine on TA needs to be improved, i post on other non EDM forums and there are much better and fasters options available, i quite often do not find what i am looking for and have opened a new thread because of it

It's called pointing them in the right direction where they can freely discuss the matter ( so saying that closing these new threads is against freedom of speech is in a sense a moot point ( but that is up to anyones own appreciation ) ).

I never post or even open these threads. But I think if there was a massive thread dedicated to the subject there would be a real debate not an ongoing flame war geared towards newbies and the likes. It would clean up the area a bit you know!?

The search is a problem but there are work arounds.
Furthermore the size of this forum is the exact reason that prevents the search from being more effective

i reckon the google algorithm would be better at indexing TA if it was employed,

having one thread for trance is dead - who says this topic is so significant, i see many more, what's your top tracks of this year threads etc which annoy me to a certain degree.

plus large threads over 30 pages are difficult to navigate.
i'm sure you've entered a 100+ thread and thought, no way am i reading the whole lot

perhaps we need a thread to re-organise TAs general structure,
the underlying forum technology is pretty old as well, so a facelift could be beneficial for everyone

Glad this thread turned into something of an intelligent discussion. Hope the mods will be around coz that's kind of a good idea.

Has been an ongoing concern for years and there are possibilities that the forum will one day migrate to an updated version of vBulletin but until then ....

A lot of the points you bring up are nothing new

ok, would you be kind enough to initiate a TA re-organisation suggestion thread,

i reckon it would be more effective for an established member to start one

I don't really know why you insist on having this gap between "established" and "less established" members.

Not to bust your balls but everything you are saying has been done and brought up X amount of times in the past ..... and has fallen to deaf ears

Has far as I'm concerned that shows that seniority means nothing.

refrain yourself, i'm really geting sick of this mystery, i was talking to jdat and you jump the waggon with some random "codshit",

i'd rather you not comment, than launch stuff like this,

and i don't want the thread to turn sour again, :-)

there is no gap, but established members tend to have encountered things over and over again and know how to deal with it
