Among the ruins, he discovered a fragment of manuscript. Only the bass line and six bars of melody had survived, possibly from the slow movement of a Trio Sonata or Sonata da Chiesa. It was from this fragment that Giazotto reconstructed the now-famous Adagio, a piece which is instantly associated with Albinoni today, yet which ironically Albinoni would doubtless hardly recognize."

i bet this is the Adagio that Above & Beyond used..
how cool that the melody was found in some ancient ruins.(most of Albinonis work is lost). but this has nothing to do with the discussion just thought id share it (i was bored and googled)

All I know is that if you have NBC HDTV in the states... The broadcast started an hour later than on the regular NBC station, but I have to say, the HDTV broadcast was absolutely stunning. From the opening with all the water, to the parade of nations with Dj Tiesto spinning all the way through. The scenery shots NBC took with there HD cameras from a plane or helicopter of some of the Greek mountains and buildings and the Mediterrean Coast were breathtaking. I could hear all the tunes just fine on the HD broadcast. The commentary wasnt really that bad either. The lady was praising DJ Tiesto, and the guy kept commenting on how the crowd seemed to never lose any energy ( I would credit that to Tiesto somewhat ). My only complaint would be that the announcers as well as my local newspaper today seem to think that Dj Tiesto is Greek !

Anyone who has never seen HDTV before needs to go to someones house who has it (preferrably on a 62" screen like mine) and watch a replay of those opening ceremonies. Incredible!!!
